From the AGM report on the club web site:

Quote:
During the evening Carlton Members were given a great opportunity to express their views on a number of issues.

Te greatest problem is they have no clue on communication and marketing.

Terrible job of selling the club to the members.

People walked out depresed.

Highlight for me was the Platter of chips n sauce CK introduced me to... and the party pies...

Lance got the left overs....

Thanks for the reports everyone, but have to say I'm a little disappointed at the consistent lack of vision and clarity presented to the members. :|

Absolutely - its so clear. Problem is, everyone seems to know this through the CLub, fans of the Club, and outside of the Club. Has anyone told the Board?

Both Collo, and the staff I spoke to downstairs before entering the meeting, said that since 2005 you only have to register once and you should remain registered. On this at least the staff and Board seem to agree. However, the problem appears to be that for some unknown reason, the system is not working as they seem to think it is, and at least some people who HAVE registered last season are not being shown as registered in 2006.

Heady, as another example of this, the club called me about 3 weeks ago to ask me to participate in the $300 a ticket raffle. A different person called me about the same raffle last week. The club just keeps making mistakes that make it look unprofessional...

Several people stood up at the AGM and tried to tell them. They were ignored.

Fair point mikkey.

Perhaps Collins thinks we're all whingers? Perhaps he thinks it goes with the territory of being 16th, when in fact most of us have accepted that and are just after some positivity, planning and performance (sounds like an election motto!)

I just can't imagine how much extra work Carlton Communications and Marketing have to do when he downgrades the Club in public, let alone those fans or interested parties that just switch off instead of getting angry.

The other thing that is worrying me at the moment is the amount of staff turnover in the latest annual report. And I'm not talking long termers leaving (although this worries me too), but the replacements coming in and leaving after relatively short periods of time.

It gives a bad impression, whether that's culture, lack of resources, morale, etc...

Also got confirmed that we are losing members at the "high end" i.e. Coterie, premium mebers etc. Not good.

My neighbour is a die-heard Carlton supporter (should see the stickers on her rubbish bin), and has been a member of various coterie and women's groups at the club. She's been telling me how depressing it is to go along to club functions and to see how numbers have dwindled (one group of women is down from 80 a few years back to around 30). She said that players often don't turn up as promised, and that at the last one Denis was there and left her feeling that he'd rather be anywhere else but there on his day off.

It worries me as to how we are going to move forward with the big picture if we can't get the little things right. The Board should be focused on looking after us as supporters, rather than harping on about inflated contracts and legacy debt. We know the history, what we want is innovation - in marketing, supporter recognition, training facilities etc. It can't be as hard as it all feels at the moment.

fair call that - got the same impression at the one gen blue event i went to last year with Sticks.

now i realise he has important things to attend to - but if he cant get to and attend such things for a series amout of times they should have got someone else.

not bagging sticks at all - as im sure he would love to be there if he could and be there having a few drinks as well - but he has other engagments, but just like about everything else, its a case of everything left to a few people.

but why couldnt they get some like i dont know, Ang Cristou, Mil Hanna etc.. and have them as part of the offical group and have them at the functions full time.

just another thing that is poorly managed IMO.

Coz he's on Mykonos....

I agree it would be good to get some extra guests, but as a player you'd hardly volunteer for this. You get some pretty painful people, stupid questions, inappropriate touching (!), and little recognition. Also, with the Club not doing well it's embarrassing with fewer people turning up. ITs a vicious cycle until we get some real change on field and some clear directions from up top.

This was also raised at the AGM and dismissed by Malouf who said staff tunover was within "normal"...... Also dismissed allegations of poor working environment etc...

See, there are no problems, we just need to win some games...
