The problem for Mick is that Collingwood was treated very well.

Let's look at the infamous third quarter .

On my assessment, Collingwood was awarded nine free kicks to Carlton's 10. One of the Pies free kicks was unwarranted.

Lance Whitnall was penalised for deliberate out of bounds late in the term, resulting in a free kick to Magpie Leon Davis who passed to Brodie Holland in the goal square.

This was a critical decision resulting in a goal.

Overall, a great quarter of high scoring, intense footy and 18 correct free kicks paid with only four errors – the free kick to Davis plus two missed frees to Carlton (one a 50m penalty which should have gone against Anthony Rocca for claiming Trent Sporn when he wasn't in the marking contest) and one unwarranted free to Carlton's Nick Stevens against Paul Licuria for holding the man

Thank god sanity prevails. If only the AFL world would be awake to it

I think the most important bit about that article is this:

That Whitnall decision really was a shocker. :garthp:

One of the worst umpires ever. Interesting though

to be honest i thought we got a better run with the umpires, but there were an amazing amount of shocking calls, in both directions really.

still i think we benefited more from them over all

good article, with which I agree. The Rocca one was blatant, and lance's handball took a 90 degree turn on its third bounce to go over. Havin g said that we did not lose because of the umpires.

P.S. what is with the :garthp:?

Seriously, garth p was a TBV poster who hasn't found his way to here. Saint supporter, and half of the posts were  . The other half were calling us flower and the like. So, in homage to a great man, is now denoted as :garthp:

Instead of bitching about the umpiring, maybe we should look at why our opposition who havent kicked 15 goals in their last 4 quarters of football previously were allowed to kick that very same amount of goals in a HALF of football

I loved Wallsy's article too. Obviously he was really pissed off about 3AW being banned from interviews after the game and decided to have another crack at Malthouse.

Don't expect Wallsy lining up for Channel Nine at any stage soon.

Did my ears deceive me or did Mark Harvey state this evening on White Line Fever that the Whitnall deliberate decision was a correct one - followed it up by saying that boundary umpires throw the ball in too often.

You're a f*cking genius Harvey, I only prey that you get the gig after Essendon* finish bottom 3 this year & Sheeds gets the arse.

One of my long term pleasures is awaiting the appointment of Harvey to Essendon*'s senior coach when they work out Sheedy should have gone 5 years ago.

They don't come any thicker.
