BUT, the question is "WHY is this so?"
The simplest reason is that Ratts is not up to it as a senior coach: either his game plan is no good or he is not good enough at communicating/teaching it.
BUT, Ratts' comments after the game seemed to highlight many of the same points above, indicating that he is not happy with the way we are going about it either. So, perhaps the players are not yet comfortable with the game plan which also explains why we look so tentative, still trying to think our way through each situation rather than it already being natural.
St Kilda played like this for the first season and a half under Lyon.
So.......Ratts isn't up to it because the team under him is playing like St Kilda did under Lyon for the first 18 months of his tenure....Yet look at the way they're going now.

No not at all.
He isnt up to it and wont be up to it...
StKilda did have a gameplan last year. They finished 4th and their gameplan was obvious.
Lyon has a long long apprentiship under his belt.
He was here under Brittain.. im pretty sure he had a year under Pagan.. and then had a few under Roos.
Ratts?
Nothing....
Mates with the people in power.
No real qualifications...
Got the job after coaching Norwood in the eastern suburban league second division wasn tit??
Does Ratts have a gameplan??
Yeah but its terrible and sub AFL standard.
Does Ratts get the most out of our players??
No he doesnt.. not too many have come along.
Does Ratts get the most out of the team??
Nope... again... were playing very medicre footy.. and we cant do many of the basics.
Ratts is a massive worry....
He should have gone out and got himself a proper education before getting a job.
Over his head.
