Having watched the game twice - I am convinced that it was Hadleys work in the third quarter that turned that game - We won nearly every single centre clearance and Hadley was the one dishing it off . It allowed Judd to move forward and be dangerous up there . We had him trying to do a job at Half back at the start of the game - he clearly is a in and under type player and shouldn't be used any other way

We look a better side when Hadley is in there doing the grunt work - I cant understand why he keeps getting dropped and was only a late inclusion in this game

I think earlier in the season he wasn't running games out as well and his disposal suffered.

A guy with his lack of pace can also be easy to close down in a stoppage, and he's not exactly built for holding the ball or bullocking.

I think the side needs Hadley in it.....in and under at stoppages, and taking the heat from Judd.

He's taller than Bentick, who played well with the Bullies on the weekend.....and he's probably a bit quicker too....which wouldn't be hard.........

Hadley was fantastic on the weekend. His third quarter clearence work was super.

If he had leg speed and perfect disposal he be Chris Judd! but he's not he's Hadley.

You clowns want changes to the team. You got it, he played well and you still moan about it :banghead: :donk: :hitcomputer:

Hadley's third quarter clearance work was good. Gibbs also had a blinder in the third.

We lost games earlier in the year when we played well.

We're winning games later in the year when we're playing shit.

That's footy.

Just got back from melbourne.
Saw the game and was glad to get the points even though were were the second-best team out there for most of the night.
I agree about Hadley. One of his clearances in the third quarter where he muscled and drove through the pack was a ripper.
We have to perservere with Robbo. That dash from the wing to CHF and F50 entry was the turning point in the game.
The umpiring is getting more bewildering by the week. I watched 4 games and they were inconsistent in all of them. Fev's treatment at the hands of Thompson was poorly handled by the umpires and even Simpson was joking on TV about how Thompson elbowed Fev in the back from before the bounce until full time. Those kidney punches that probably aren't hard enough to put a person down are still potentially damaging if they are continuous. The AFL has a duty of care to its employees to provide a safe workplace. Fev should put in a workers' comp claim to the AFL for scans for kidney damage and see if they sit up and take notice.
We should rest Judd this week and anyone else that needs it so we are up for Port.

My point is that Ratten cops shit for trying to implement a Total Football style zone because the players have neither the tactical experience nor the work ethic to pull it off consistently. Yet in theory it would counteract the opposition's tactics of playing through our slower players, of which there are many.

Ratten cops shit for not having a consistent gameplan, but if he was to persevere with this zonal style at all times he'd not only be accused of being inflexible, but we'd lose more games than we'd win at this stage. And he'd cop shit for us not making the finals.

I'm not saying that Ratten is doing a great job or that he's doing a poor job, just pointing out that it's an extraordinarily hard job and this forum, a tough crowd.

I'm just glad Terry Wallace isn't coaching us.

IIRC for the first half of last year, Ross Lyon copped a fair bit of grief for the way he had St Kilda playing (and it wasn't only coming from Grant Thomas), but now with a solid 18 months grounding and consistency in game style, the Saints are starting to see the results. He stuck to what he believed in amidst the criticism and the Saints players bought in to this belief. I believe Ratten needs to do the same, and who's to say that he isn't, because we don't know from the outside what is happening inside the club.

What I find 'ínteresting' (to use a Rattenism) is that over the past seven years the media have been very quick to jump on Carlton when there is anything wrong with the club, not to mention every coach that seems to lose a few games in a row (at any club), but I haven't seen much 'Ratten-bashing' (apart from his poor coaching performance against the Crows) from anywhere apart from these forums (in what seems like every post these days). Maybe we are so success starved that our expectations are too high now that we are a decent footy side not getting belted every week, but it seems that everywhere but here that the rest of the AFL community is realistic as to where we are at as a footy club.

That's two of the record losing streaks we've had broken in 2009 (Swans, North). There's only two more to go - St Kilda and Adelaide - with one more chance of redemption against the latter.

The Hawks are getting close to forging a new record against us, needing only one more win (their seventh on the trot) to create a new record.

On One Week At A Time they showed vision of Thompson giving Fev Nipple Cripples, right in front of McBurnie the spud who did jack shite about it.

I see Jamo has been listed as 'indefinte' as the Club's injury list.

He's not a great kick Hads but his handball is A grade ... time and time again he'd hold back his dish off until the right option came. Some of his hanballs across the body were superb.

Want to mention Austin's game ... played one of his best IMO. When he wasn't getting the fist in to spoil he was bodying players out of the marking contest to allow a Carlton player over the top. He runs hard, good hands and can kick ... shepherds and works hard. Well done to him, terrific game given no Jammo, and Bower and Thornton left him on his Pat Malone for a while.

To all the players who gave Judd a cut out ... :thanks: ... supporters have been waiting to see teamwork like that all year. Good work Carraz, Walks and Hads particularly for making Greenwoods life a little tougher.

They brought up Thompson elbowing Fev on On the Couch. That maggot McBurney who hates us said after Thompson elbowed Fev "You do it again & I'll ping you"

Of course it never happened

Yeah some good points. Hadley's experience will be valuable in the clinches. We just have to make sure his lack of pace does not override the good things he offers.
