The stakes are huge with Yarran- potentially Premiership defining.. all Im saying is that we really dont want to have !@#$%& this up.
No wonder he can't get out of the place quick enough.
Our next premiership is potentially riding on an 18 year old aboriginal boy who is 4,000 kms from home, his father is in jail and his mother works in a mine.
..our next premiership rides on our drafting.. ..if a player picked takes as long to come good as some are suggesting [players named include l.davis, gian, gilbee, ling etc], then by my estimation we have to wait a half dozen years before we get good, consistent footy.. ..for a top ten pick nowadays, that's taking too long [unless kid is kpp].. ..for a list like ours, it's even more important that our choices come on sooner rather than later.. ..as i've said a few times, i just don't think our list currently has the luxury of waiting and slowly developing a kid [non-kpp] over 3+ years,, especially when other kids were available that also addressed problems in our list..
..i think last year everyone was pulling their hair out regarding our problems up fwd [and they were right to pull their hair out].. ..unfortunately, we're yet to discover how much this problem is list management, and how much is crappy fwd coaching.. ..we also have a v.big problem in our midfield.. ..we do not have as much top end talent as some ppl think, and we lack a genuine bonafide in and under player of a-grade talent.. ..juddles struggled last year, and got smashed in the clearances [physically wise, sure he racked up great clearance and CP stats, but he's getting pulverised as he does it].. ..a year later, going into finals and he's still got bugger all support, and it seems it's beginning to physically take it's toll.. ..so far, our 1st rnd drafting has addressed neither of these problem areas.. ..yes, it's still v.early days but there's been v.little positive signs to suggest that we picked wisely.. ..meanwhile, our superstar recruit and captain is playing up fwd to protect him, and help the fwd structure.. ..and next year i can't see much help either cos we drafted a kid so young that he's a year behind his peers in some ways, and we might not even get a top ten pick this year the way we're going..
