I'd be disappointed if he wasn't dropped because of skinfolds.
Why he is playing football - Its not an athletic comp - As I said before what were Stuart Dews skinfold grand final day - There are a stack of players playing that are in worse condition than him
The difference is SB the Hawks were happy to take him knowing what they were going to get. We're not happy with what we're getting.
We know he's better than a few on the list, but we also know he can be even better on a much more regular basis if he gets his body in order and wants to work both ways. Its currently not happening and for someone that should be seen as a leader and therefore leading the way its just not good enough.
And, don't forget, it was a few of the younger guys who helped bring the issue to a head. They weren't happy with his level of professionalism.
Its up to Stevens, and Stevens alone, to make sure he's in the right condition to play football. No one else. People can blame the footy staff such as the fitness advisors but i don't see anyone else on our list with the weight issues Stevens has. They can't stop him from drinking pots and having Parma's down at the lower plenty hotel with his mates.
It's not a nanny state for gods sake. The club expects a high degree of professionalism from all its players. Its a message that is finally starting to hit home, if only they did it (or Pagan was allowed to do it

) when Whitnall was around.
If you were Stevens what would you do? Picked up in the PSD in 03 and have played for a club that has had the worst period in its history and then on the brink of blue sky's ahead you become incredibly unprofessional. It's truly mindblowing in its stupidity.
Don't get me wrong, i think Stevens has been a very good footballer for this club but its not about the past AT ALL and until he fully recognises that he's on the slippery slope to football oblivion.
I fully support the MC and the rest of the football club for the stance that has been taken. And i truly admire the level of professionalism from the younger players that helped bring this situation to a head.
