My assessment of Gibbs is well rounded but some posters get pretty defensive when he is criticised. You see if I was on my own with my viewI would be worried but I aint. Of course some posters on here would think they are morons just like me
And I dont want him to have to the same career as that squib Johnstone who because of his relunctance to change cant get a game anymore
What i saw happened on Saturday.
If you want to win a flag you cant have any squibs
If you were not aware of that I am pleased to share that info
Gibbs needs to improve in certain areas of the game.
He has time . He is 20. Just hope the club is pointing out those facts to win rather than burying their heads in the sand just like mebourne did all those years ago.
And if you think he is a star well you need to lift your expectations
Your argument is flawed.
Johnston at 20 was no where near the level that Gibbs is at the same stage.
Where was Goddard at 20????
Where was Hayes at 20???
Where was Bartel and Ablett at 20???
IMO only JUDD and Selwood(who has had an armchair ride so far) in the AFL were and are playing with the consistancy at the same age as Gibbs.
Remember Round 2 when Juddy went back and could have marked and taken a hit but elected to knock it out of bounds?????????
What about Anderson last year up at the Gabba when he threw his body in front of Brown in the dying seconds of the match yet on the weekend he elected to knock the ball out rather than take a hit and mark the ball??????
Now both players ALONG with Gibbs are not squibs............... Houla on the other hand...................
I'll say it again for you.
Bryce Gibbs is only freakin 20............He is a STAR.........He will be a SUPERSTAR............You will look silly in a couple of seasons infact you already are in my eyes.
In relation to all the replies I reckon with the exception of Cazzeman your only picking out the parts you dont like
Deano read over the posts. I said he was 20 with time on his side.
But the comparison between him and Johnstone is valid.
Both were number one picks
Both rely heavily on reading the play better than their opponents thats why they get a lot of ball
Both arnt quick
Both havent shown a wiilingness to chase all the time
Both are shocking overhead when overhead marking is concerned
On that one week at a time show they talked about fear and every player feels it and sometimes take the soft option.
Unless your an exception like Glenn Archer. So grantedjust about every player at some time does a squib act.
Can you tell me where Judd has done it any other time other than the lions match.
Cant imagiNe Houlihan doing what Anderson did at the Gabba last year.
IMO Gibbs does it too often regardlessof his age and he needs to eradicate it from his game.
Cazzeman in regards to Craig Bradley he is one of my alltime favourite players.
I just hope Bradley realises that the game is different now to when he played and even he would get found out if he was playing now.
As someone said one day when we used to stand at the ground "your a squib Bradley"
to which I re[plied
"yep mate but he is the greatest squib to play the game"
fact is that one way style from just one player can cost you a flag.
Not so when Bradley played.
