Save your breath Keogh cos apparently everything is going smoothly at the club given that we're a work in progress and no-one knows how far back we've come from and we don't really know because we're not part of the inner sanctum blah blah.
With our steady as she goes development, we will win flags by 2012 in multiples because the other 15 clubs will not have improved. Please, other 15 clubs, remain on status quo cos we're coming and you guys are not allowed to develop. Cazz, if you think Keogh's a clown (and I dont BTW), you can join him at the circus as the great illusionist...all smoke and mirrors masking the real issue....we are flowering average side. Most commentators are now saying the same (Healy, Walls, Shaw...) but what would they know, they're not part of the inner sanctum blah blah
POST OF THE WEEK no YEARIm not too sure we should take too much notice of people like Walls and Healy, their summary on most teams is pretty shallow.
There was an awful lot of negative noise coming from these same people about the Saints last year particularly after the nil all draw with the eventual premiers. Now they have a great list and play with purpose since DalSanto and Milne were disiplined.
The same with discussion on how Melb our now so bad that they would be silly to win anymore games, yet the perspective is that Carlton tanked more so than any other team!!
What we need to focus on is the way our team is shaping up, Grigg had some really insightful points about the setups in the middle for the blues and what his role is, it is a shame he was missing earlier in the year, after such a good preseason and form on the board. It is these types of issues (whether you like it or not) that impact on our performance.
I think that the problem with CHF has also affected our NEW game plan etc. Fisher was injured, so too Wiggins, Ratts also pointed out that Walker was to be used in that role until injury, Warnock's injury has been longer than anticipated, and obviously it was hoped that Cloke could fill the role (I have no problem with trying these things out because sometimes a surprise player may do a good job ie. Setanta. All these circumstances are not excuses they are just part of not being able to get the plans in motion.
The run off half back is another example, Waite, Scotland, Stevens, Johnson, Carazzo, Bower have all had issues and this has meant that despite best laid plans Armfield has had to fill this role sometimes even though his disposal wasnt quite there (something which Riley pointed out preseason).
No team has their full list to chose from but when a young, inexperienced side who are still learning how to play to the coaches instructions have to deal with it, it can seem very haphazard. Even Geelong struggle to deal with structural players out.
On the other hand there are many positives if you care to look, because Warnock has been held up we've both Hammer and Jacobs set up and really impress. Because of Carrots injury early on we saw AJ really blossum into a great run with player. With Walker injury we saw Gartlett given a lot more time up forward than we ever expected. We've seen Setanta really offer something at CHF. Injury to Waite has seen Aussie come on in leaps and bounds.
There is nearly something fantastic happen on every line of the team set up this year due to turning a negative into a positive, sure it may have cost us a few games due to inexperience and not taking all of our chances but the improvement is undoubted.
