Thanks Jarusa & the Spirit of Carlton - a great afternoon and very happy to meet up with some of the Blueseum's finest contributors. All we needed was Patzfitrick & Blueworld and we'd have been close to the top 10 on site.

Sorry I'm late, just got home and currently catching up with stuff. And Stuff.

Was good to meet so many like-minded folk on Saturday, thoroughly enjoyed the varying conversations with everyone involved. And I will also be party to the Park Ranger Hunt

With the Blueseum stepping up another gear in 2008, we're looking to continue the surge for 2009 to make it a more readily available and up to date information source - this means, in addition to covering our history in increasing detail, yet covering today's players as quickly as possible. We'd like to set up some form of weekly update schedule to ensure that all of the key functions utilised by fans on site is ready and able for use. Now we already have a few key writers who do some of this, but one of us is doing Year 12 next year (and may not have the time), whilst others are moving into research roles on history. The upshot is we have a need to work out a schedule of users - although this sounds like an obligation we'll make sure there's people around to help do the role if you can't. We see it as 5 tasks:

1. Game Reviews [TimmyD / snakehips / Patzfitrick / General] [WillowBlue on history]
- initial data entry
- game review / commentary

2. Player Bio Updates [Timmy D / tb3 / General]
- key milestones
- games / goals
- commentary if really required

3. Locker Room [verbs]
- update each locker for games played (22 jumpers a week)

4. Playing List 2009 update [molsey]
- Ive put together a spreadsheet to help me do this quickly
- Stat Shot update

5. Ad-hoc records (2009 Records) [WillowBlue]

I'd be happy to take PM's or EOIs in here if someone wants to help. Items 1 and 2 are the really important bits so the more the merrier.

Thanks.

Thanks to everyone for their offers to help. Tasks 1 and 2 will be rather fluid as occasionally a few of us watch a match and want to write it up, but hopefully we'll find a way to make it work. The key bit is not just to write a game up well but not to delete the valid recollections of others.

"General" means that these tasks have historically been filled by ad-hoc contributions from many users.

These aren't firm obligations, just offers, so if the volunteers can't do it then the idea is that others will do it. I'd like to think we could have something in game review by Monday of the following week and will add something in in case we don't.

Thanks

We're going to run it that there is an oversight person on alternating weeks to tie in each of the tasks. I'm doing odd weeks and Patzfitrick will be doing even weeks.

Round 1 will be the first run:
Game review: Snakehips
Bio Updates: Timmy D
Locker Room: verbs
Records: WillowBlue
Oversight / Update Playing List: molsey

Everyone else can still contribute - the idea is that this just gets done.

We've just had the 1978 U19's team picture donated to site.

Thanks CK95.

Just browsing through some of those u19 picks, and couldn't help but notice one J. Colosimo in the 1975 u19's team photo.

Bears a relatively strong resemblance to Vince and Simon.

Does anyone know if they're related?

We believe so but no confirmed yet. We've gone to some members of the Italian community to try and find out. If anyone hear knows a quicker way, we'd appreciate it - it might make a good little story on site.

This year we'll be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1979 Premiership on a week by week basis i.e. this week we're celebrating Carlton's first match of 1979 (which wasn't in Round 1, incidentally). If you remember the season please have a look.

One problem though - a severe shortage of images for the year. We have a small 1979 GF gallery (6 pics) but nothing for the year at large. Our best image contributor from that era, 'bombasheldon', can't find his 1979 Inside Football collection (but have a look at 78, 80, 81, etc.). If you have any 1979 images around, we'd love to see them on site.

Cheers

We've had some ripper new 1979 pictures added to the galleries as part of our quest to source new pics for the 30th anniversary.

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-browse_gal ... leryId=480

There's also some new ones in the mains eason gallery - 1979 SF including a bath shot of Austin and Maclure which will get your hearts racing.

Just a bit of an update re traffic on the site.

It has been increasing steadily, much higher than last year.

For example in March the site had 8,584 unique visitors, those people viewed a total of 321,165 pages, over 21 pages per visitor.

These are quite phenomenal numbers for what is essentially a history website.

3,010 unique visitors so far this month already!

I'm advised that the Footy Record has referenced the Blueseum in each of the last 2 weeks? If that is right, can anyone scan in what they said or write-up the specific reference?

That is terrific that we are getting that amount of traffic to the site. Shows how much the supporters want to see the information and data about the club now and in the past.
Cant understand why every club does nothave something similar.

I see that Essendon* has finally cught up, and has started a History
page on their Non AFL Website.
It is small and sparse at the moment of course.

I have a Scanlens sticker book circa-1983 that I can scan the Carlton pages of if it's the sort of thing you're after.

I just watched the Brett Backwell interview with David Letterman which is currently on the Blueseum homepage. Thanks for adding that.

Just watched it too. Letterman certainly did more research than Brett did......

As an intervieweee, he was just a tad better than he was as an AFL footballer...... but just a tad.

Loved the line about the coach telling him to pull his finger out. Whoosh!! Right over the septics' heads!!!!

1. NEW - New picture of 1977 Under 19's has been added, to almost complete out 1970's Under 19's collection:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-browse_gal ... leryId=564

2. Yes Wojee, that sounds of interest. You can upload pictures into the 1983 gallery or into the player galleries. if what you have adds to the site we're always interested (subject to database size!)

3. There was a good question here that was from a post that has since been deleted. Yes, Deacons socks - as do Robertsons - look like a dark band up toip and lighter socks below.
