At around 3-4pm tomorrow the newest member of the Mjoncs will join the mighty blues, can't believe they wouldn't let me sign Jnr up before he was born :P

I am thinking there has been a stuff up in the mailing of some membership renewals. I go to the footy with 6 other people all premium gold members at roughly $400 a year each. I received a notice a couple of weeks ago which told me my direct debit agreement had expired even though I had ticked a box last year to continue it year after year.
We were told by the club on Tuesday when 1 of the guys rang and asked why none of the 7 of us had got a renewal form that its not their problem its the mailing houses. He then said that we had until Friday (tomorrow) to have our forms submitted or we would lose our reserved seats. So one of the guys has had to go to the club, pick up membership forms, get them to all of us and take them back tomorrow.
Thats very poor form I believe considering I have been a member for over 20 years and 3 of the guys have been members since the late 1960s, all of us always at a premium level.
Reading the same thing written here by a couple of other posters makes me wonder how many others are in this situation. Also how many potential members they could be missing out on because they are not mailing out to lapsed members or to members who are about to lapse. The attitude of the people at the club dealing with it and that it occurred in the first place simply isnt good enough.

Anyone who had a direct debit membership that was not continued did not receive a renewal form, pathetic. I had to download one and fill two forms out. this was an oversight by the club.

I wonder if the club uses a mailing company common to other clubs. There seems to be all good intentions but a lack of connection with the actual process somewhere in the membership department.

No signed posters here yet, for either me or my wife. I'm thinking I should probably check that the memberships have actually been renewed, and the details updated properly (her surname, my address), as my wife's membership renewal came in her maiden name, a long time after I'd updated her details, and a week after I checked that the memberships were renewed (along with my 2 nieces), but I also don't want to be a pain in the neck.

I was all set to renew my membership today & make a few changes to my personal details.

So I thought I would do it on line & log in with the username & password the club supplied. Guess what :?: Failed :!:

So then i thought I'll fax the forms. Guess what :?: Fax always busy :!:

So then I rang the number supplied to speak to an operator. Guess what :?: Number just rings out :!:

What a great way to run a business

I had the same problem today. It rang out the first couple of times, then I was on hold for half an hour till I got through. I assume because it is the last day to guarantee reserved seats, that the system just didn't cope.

I wonder when we'll put up how many members we have up on our website. Most of the other AFL clubs do.

I just contacted the club today and renewed the family membership for my brother and his two daughters (I tag along to make up the other adult!)...

Was fearful that our reserved seats would be taken from us as he (being my brother) had not contacted the club, thankfully they have extended the reserved seat deadline to Friday 19th December.

Just one question, can I join up as a Blue Believer separately to the family membership?

Regards, Shaun (sticks1977)

Renewal of a previous membership on the Internet is the easy step.

Waiting to get your renewal paperwork via a mailing house is the step that usually falls into either a hole or does not occur at all.

Perhaps in 2008 this is the indication - get to the Internet and leave the snail mail alone.

I know the true membership number is more than the reported 4,500 but I am guessing what it could be.

It is possible to report the current membership head count.

The question is why is it not available on the culb website.

Our club website would have to be one of the worst, it took until late this afternoon to put any details of our latest recruits onto the site. this situation with membership renewals is a joke, if you paid by direct debit this year you are not getting a renewal notice at all even if the direct debit has ceased. I hope this gets raised at the agm.

Our membership department has a MASSIVE backlog of memberships to count, they gave me an approx figure thus far of 12.5k.

45k is my projection with finals on the radar.

i wnated to renew online but found that you could not do so if you wanted the monthly payment scheme. I tried ringing and sat on hold for my entire lunch break. So i then emailed. Sarah got back to me pretty quickly, answered all my questions and then allowed me to send mine and my father's applications to her as a PDF. followed with and email saying she had printed them off and submitted for me. I couldn't have been happier with the service in the end

I couldn't be stuffed waiting any longer, so I just printed the forms and sent them off. I've tried calling them about four times and each time was on hold for about 20-30 minutes before giving up. I don't expect mine to be processed in time.

Swanny, please do something about this as it WILL cost us members :(
