I'm actually starting to hope he doesn't get it. Sunday's brain explosion just before half-time was yet another example of why I worry that we're unlikely to win a flag with Fev in the side.
Fev plays for Fev. I love the way he plays when he's "on"; he's supremely talented but unfortunately too often Fev puts Fev before Carlton.
He kicks 100 and how big is his dick then? Those suggesting that it might relieve the pressure on Fev are basing this on what? Every time it looks like Fev might be getting his act together he goes and has another on-field melt-down and shifts the side's momentum. I couldn't care less about the off-field stuff. It's the on-field petulance and its effect on the side that shits me.
Nobody's kicked 100 in a premiership side since Dunstall and his level of discipline and team play was way above anything Fev's ever going to serve up. The other thing about Dunstall was how capable he was playing with other forwards like Brereton, Jarman and Buckenara. I can't believe Dunstall would ever have had a crack at Kreuzer for going for the ball.
Premiership sides these days (and in the past if you look at our own club) have usually been based on multiple avenues to goal. Can Fev play as one of many in the forward line or will he always have to be numero uno who does a nana every time someone else looks like they might be about to get a little of the limelight?
I'd take 3 goals and 3 goal assists a week from Fev any day over a bag of 6 from Fev alone. When that happens we'll have a functioning forward line that can win a flag. If footy supporters really had a clue they'd award a medal for goal assists rather than the Coleman. Isn't it meant to be a team game? Fev currently has 8 goal assists for the entire season.
I used to laugh at sides like the Saints explain away their miserable seasons by hanging onto the fact that Plugger had kicked a ton and/or won the Coleman. I really hope we're not going to become that side.
Can't aggree with this post.
Fev plays for Carlton. Plain and simple. Hell......... he could have kicked 7 on the weekend but he stupidly thought that Carrazzo was in a better position.............. which he clearly wasn't........... but that at least shows that he's doing the team thing.
When a player hit a milestone, Fevola is the first person to grab the match-day ball and hand it to them to say congratulations. He did it with Judd & Waite this year! That's a team effort and not at all signs of somebody playing for himself!
Also, look what he did for Simon Wiggens wife..........
On the goal assists issue............ Fev's job is to kick goals, and he is doing an awesome job at that. 90 goals for a guy that is consistantly double-teamed and triple-teamed is an awesome result and i dare say that he is gonna finish Top 3 in the B&F.
On the brain-fade issue................ This is Fevola....... you have to take the good with the bad, it's a package that obviously cannot be seperated.
At the end of the day, he is a Carlton forward who in 20 games has kicked 90 goals at an avg of 4.5 per game and is just 4 goals behind easilly one of the most dominant players on season 2008........... i for one will be gunning for him to kick his Ton!
