I used to play rugby league on my own when I was growing up.
Just me and a ball.
I grabbed the ball under my arm, and ran full pelt into the brick wall holding up the side of our house.
Then I lay on the ground and dry humped the driveway for 5 seconds.
Then up I got and ran into the wall again. And dry humped the driveway. Again.
Then again.
Then again.
Then again.
Then mum stuck her head out of the kitchen window. "That's FIVE" she yelled.
So I got the ball, kicked it as far as I could. Then I ran to chase it.
Picked it up.
And ran full pelt into the wall again.
"ONE" came the cry from the kitchen.
That was when I discovered what a GREAT game Rugby League truly is.
not attacking you at all bh, so dont take this like that, but people who quote stuff like this have absolutely no understanding for the game of rugby league at all.
I used to be exactly the same. But the game is A LOT more than that. It is extremely tactical, with the game being all about territory. People think that each time a league team get the ball they try and score a try, its not like that, it's about setting yourself up for being in good field position next time you get the ball, setting the other team up to be under great defensive pressure when it's their turn to have the ball.
I'm not saying league is better than AFL, im not saying AFL is better than league, but what i am saying is that there is room for both codes in Australia and this stupid cross code rivalry is bullshit.
so, let the caning commence........
edit*-i've often thought that it would be an excellent idea for Carlton to align themselves with an NRL team, a partnership if you will.....
i.e. my beloved blues, aligning themselves with my beloved south sydney.
both teams are the most successful in their respective comps. both teams have been shafted by "the man" both teams are starting a resurgence.......it's gold.
