This is where my attention would be. Without the gun midfielders then our forwards won't have an opportunity to kick goals.
Footy has changed. If Carlton made finals all opposition teams would double team Fev and they win the game. Have 5 gun midfielders and you will find they will all kick goals. Look at Geelong.
Paying Fev lots of money is old school thought which is why Elliot supports it.
How many did Mooney kick last year. Blows your argument out of the water. You won't win many without a decent key forward. Even the year the Eagles won Lynch kicked 65 goals.
Mooney is made to look good by having guns like G.Ablett, Bartel, Chapman, Johnson, Corey, Kelly etc getting the ball to him. If Mooney was at Melbourne he would struggle to have any presence. Lynch had Kerr, Cousins, Judd, Embley, Fletcher.
Jim that was a very poor arguement and your thoughts are aligned with the older paradigm.
I wouldn 't think it was a poor agrument. Actually yours is a poor argument. One of the poorest. KP players have always been important. too say otherwise is folly. Everyone knows that. KP players aren't there as feeding machine like monkeys in a cage. They either finish the good work by their ability to read the play or take the difficult contested mark by using their strength a smaller player couldn't. To say anything else is absolutely laughable. No-one makes a FF look good they do it themselves. Fev's a perfect example with the non-delivery he's had for years with 4 blokes hanging off him. Still kicked goals and won a Coleman in a wooded spoon team. Blows the argument out of the water further. Maybe the Lions should sack Jono Brown and put Joe Bloggs there if all you have to do is feed them and they kick goals. It's cheaper
. Bulldogs certainly didn't make a point of chasing tall players for nothing this year.
