Before some of you guys really go off look at it this way.
He has a contract until next year. His games at Carlton have all been in the ruck and he is NOT big enough to be a ruckman.
I have seen him the last 2 weeks and if you didn't know it was Ackland you would be excited about the possibility of this guy lining up at FF. The Ackland of the past 2 weeks is not the same Ackland that has been at the club for the past couple of years.
If he could maintain that form at senior level it would be an advantage!
I have also seen his past 2 games and it is like watching a different player but he has been playing as a leading forward and, apart from the big mark at Sandringham, hasn't really shown himself to be a great pack mark so I would not play him if the plan was to stick him in the goal square.
He's not that old and might have just found his best position but if he is to be given another game, it would have to be as a leading forward.
You see him play far more than others around here and i'll sign off on this, RR. It's called nothing to lose. Can't buy a goal out of any other "forward" at the moment. Either he or Harts maybe, but Harts wasn't much chop against Tiges in the first round, though.
Hughes and Morton - 11 b/w them v Port. Both in the magoos the week before and hardly household names. A risk worth taking?
Can he take a contested mark?
Still think Waite the answer @ CHF, but w/out Tex, Bower or Banno the MC just won't put him there. Pity, but only time will fix this and some of these lads not far away.
