Ratts has three words for them... "kick it to Fev!!"
That'd be 4 words...Fev is amazing though. There was one passage in the second quarter when I think it was Fisher who passed the ball to Fev 45m our near the boundary, ignoring another Carlton player in the middle about 30m out. I thought "What a stupid option." But sure enough Fev goes back and slots it. He is worth kicking it to most of the time.
I think the Carlton side are addicted to kicking it to Fev. It's not healthy but it feels so good when Fev pulls out a one hander and slots it from 50.
Yeah but ....
Murphy should have kicked a goal (from 10 yards out) but handpassed to Fev who was surrounded.
Simpson should have had a shot at goal (running in before half time) but then went a short pass that missed the target.
The list goes on ...... time to look for other options .... not just the FF.
looking for other options wont happen - kick it to fev isnt a ratten game plan directive. Its a result of years of kicking it to fev.
Had hartlett played yesterday, how many I50 entries do you think would have been targetted towards him? Its the same with every other player that we have tried in the forward half over the past few years.
In my mind there are 3 ways to get around this
1. Bring in an established gun forward that demands the ball (ie brown, pavlich, lucas)
2. Play Fev away from goals so that our I50 entries must be targetted to another player - would be interesting to see how many goals Fisher might kick if he was played in the square and had the ball kicked to him 25-30 times/game. Richo has been moved away froom FF to try to develop other players, similarly lloyd has now been directed to play further up the ground - is Fev capable of doing this?
3. Trade Fev
