I too would like to see the club perservere with Russell. However the problem is this. His current Effective Disposals this year are the following
12 disposals @ 91.67%
11 @ 72.73%
15 @ 66.67%
13 @ 76.92%
16 @ 68.75%
These figures dont necessarily translate into turnovers but they are an indication he wastes the ball. Now this is after 4 or 5 years of drills, skills acquistion and skills coaches. Is this a problem?

Some people might want to check out Joel Selwood's efficiency from the Freo game as well. You'll find plenty of people saying he won Geelong the game in the last quarter. All I saw was him turning the ball over.
JR is taking longer than I would like. But he can look to his current coach for inspiration there. Ratts didn't exactly light the world on fire in his first few years. Even at his best Ratten was still vastly underrated.
JR may never be a marquee player for our club, but he's shown in the last few weeks that he has a willingess to play for his teammates, his coach and our club. The fact he is improving while doing so shows that he's worth persisting with.
It's probably only 18 months ago that people were saying Geelong would never make it. Clarkson reckons the Hawks didn't really get full confidence within their playing group until midway through last season.
Patience is a virtue.
Russell, and all our players, as pointed out already in this thread, have started this season with a blank canvas. They're learning a new style of play, learning to play under a new coaching regime and all while seeing the shining example that Chris Judd gives.
On top of that, the poll result is pretty damning in it's support of Jordan Russell. I know he made some horrible blues against the Crows, but he also did some bloody good team things.
JR is improving, and he is having a fair dinkum crack. Isn't that all we ask from our players, from Chris Judd through to Michael Shields?
