Lets start a thread on all players, pretty sure I haven't seen one in 2008.

this guy is a massive dud. should have traded him to Adelaide while he was still worth something. they wouldn't even have him on their rookie list now.
fancy kicking into the man on the mark from 30m. absolute shithouse

Mate, if we traded every dud, you would have been shipped to BomberBlitz years ago.

I suggest we keep him.
I suggest he needs to improve to be kept...... but I would expect that is the call we make of everyone on the list due for renewal.

If he improves and we don't keep him, I'd be very, very surprised.

Said yes. Believe he is slowly improving. Like others in our side needs to eliminate silly skill errors. Confidence is a big thing in footy and his seems to be growing.

R6? Give me strength....

How about giving the boy a break? Yes he has taken longer than we would like to develop. His fault? The club's fault? Perhaps a combination?

But this year we have a completely different set of parameters....new coach, new assistants, new training regimes, new playing personnel....

Jordy has been given slightly more opportunity this year...and each week has shown a little bit more. Gee, he still made mistakes? Fancy that.

But how about we focus on the improvements? His more aggressive running this week. Those crunching tackles he laid.

I can remember the "supporters" near me who wanted players like Sexton to be culled from the list 'coz they'd "never make it"...

Maybe he won't improve fast enough for the footy club....but gee it must be harder knowing your own supporters are so hard.

Ratten must have watched a different game. Confused

Or maybe you don't know much about footy? Or perhaps you didn't have a good seat yesterday (or god forbid you watched it on tv and have the gall to pass judgment from your living room?!!..I know some do)

Look I wouldn't have lauded his efforts but he was a good performer for the most part yesterday. His errors are pretty glaring...but you're expecting them as well (don't deny it). He did more 1%'s yesterday than any other week this year and after his mishandling development wise by coaches now gone - it's only right to see what type of footballer he can become in what is a development year for the club.

Oh so turning this into a personal attack hey?

And if someone has a different opinion to you, they know nothing about footy? :garthp:

Look, i don't grudge his efforts yesterday, i thought his tackling was OK and did a couple of nice things.. It doesnt take away from the fact that this is his 4th season in the AFL, going on 22 now and has nothing special to show for it over his career!

It would be a pretty damning fact over his career if you guys consider yesterdays match to have been one of Jordan Russell's best. With 34 AFL games to his name, what exactly does that say about him as a player??

He appears to me to be too mentally fragile and weak to have a real future in the AFL system.. He has been given a few chances over his career to date to do something important and crucial for the club such as kicking an important goal, but he has failed on every occasion...

His set shot kicking is a disgrace and how someone can continually (yes he's done this a few times!) spray easy 25-40m shots at goal staggers me!

I think a young 18yo kid like Steven Browne shows a lot more confidence and initiative when it comes to backing himself as a footballer and he's a first year player! I think Paul Bower is really making some inroads as a player, particularly these last few weeks.. Shaun Grigg is coming along pretty well in just his 2nd season (Russell's 4th)..

Cameron Cloke has shown much more in an equal number of games, Michael Jamison has shown twice as much in less than a dozen games!

Jordan Russell was doing a fair job yesterday, and i truly believed he was ready to steady up and kick that goal from 30 out.. It could have been a real defining moment..

And again, it ended poorly with yet another piss-weak shot at goal.. U12's stuff.. Time is running out for Jordan Russell to become a player of any real significance to the team.. :!:

My uncle tells me that Braddles has taken JR under his wing. Probably explained the hard running yesterday and his ability to lay a good tackle after an error to make sure he didnt slip back into his shell. I see some good signs.

Good running goals Braddles style will be a nice weapon for him to add to his game. Hopefully all it will take is one to go through to turn things around. Like Murphy overcoming his yips late in the preseason. His kicking technique is good he just need to keep his head and go through with his routine.

If Ratts and the crew think he isnt going to make it at years end then I will accept that but until then i will support him. I trust Ratts more than i do the overweight guy sitting near me that got red in the face and spat his pie out everytime JR went near it. That guy sucked.

Most times he gets the ball he costs us.

We cannot put up with it anymore. He must go, at least play 2's. Browne showed more already.

Russell tackles well but thats it. He has not football smarts. Other clubs young kids are doing well and Russel should be of agae where he is a real danger player. He is a joke.

It's been a few years now, why would TC sponsor a player such as Jordan Russell, instead of a real player with a future like Michael Jamison??

Until Jordan Russell can learn some of the very basic skills required for AFL football, he will continue to have his critics!

anyways.

i voted yes.

if he continues to improve, and continues to show something he stays.

if he remains where he is currently, then no.

but here is the kicker for some of you lot.

that would be exactly the same scenario for 95% of our list.

so this disscussion is rubbish.

first two rounds he was rubbish, but the last three he has shown gradual improvment in all of them, with a decent game yesterday, far from our worse IMO.

he continues to show that growth, then what more do you want from a player?

sometimes i think, people actually forget that some of our kids are just that, kids. FFS, he has played 30 something games.

by 50 games you will get an idea if they can make it
by 100 games you will know if they do make it

and that is the same, as i said before, for nearly 95% of our list.

Why does it matter? The people won't be deciding his fate so who cares. If you don't rate him just say so and we can all move on.

If you haven't put any money in it's probably none of your business. If you have put money in then send me your address and I will have your cheque sent back. Simple really.

Look at the last 3 games again. The first two goals yesterday were as a result of his tackles and pressure.
