Ratten must have watched a different game. Confused
Or maybe you don't know much about footy? Or perhaps you didn't have a good seat yesterday (or god forbid you watched it on tv and have the gall to pass judgment from your living room?!!..I know some do)
Look I wouldn't have lauded his efforts but he was a good performer for the most part yesterday. His errors are pretty glaring...but you're expecting them as well (don't deny it). He did more 1%'s yesterday than any other week this year and after his mishandling development wise by coaches now gone - it's only right to see what type of footballer he can become in what is a development year for the club.
Oh so turning this into a personal attack hey?
And if someone has a different opinion to you, they know nothing about footy?
Look, i don't grudge his efforts yesterday, i thought his tackling was OK and did a couple of nice things.. It doesnt take away from the fact that this is his 4th season in the AFL, going on 22 now and has nothing special to show for it over his career!
It would be a pretty damning fact over his career if you guys consider yesterdays match to have been one of Jordan Russell's best. With 34 AFL games to his name, what exactly does that say about him as a player??
He appears to me to be too mentally fragile and weak to have a real future in the AFL system.. He has been given a few chances over his career to date to do something important and crucial for the club such as kicking an important goal, but he has failed on every occasion...
His set shot kicking is a disgrace and how someone can continually (yes he's done this a few times!) spray easy 25-40m shots at goal staggers me!
I think a young 18yo kid like Steven Browne shows a lot more confidence and initiative when it comes to backing himself as a footballer and he's a first year player! I think Paul Bower is really making some inroads as a player, particularly these last few weeks.. Shaun Grigg is coming along pretty well in just his 2nd season (Russell's 4th)..
Cameron Cloke has shown much more in an equal number of games, Michael Jamison has shown twice as much in less than a dozen games!
Jordan Russell was doing a fair job yesterday, and i truly believed he was ready to steady up and kick that goal from 30 out.. It could have been a real defining moment..
And again, it ended poorly with yet another piss-weak shot at goal.. U12's stuff.. Time is running out for Jordan Russell to become a player of any real significance to the team..
