that both bros don't like being told what to do - they feel that instructions are more like criticisms and are perhaps acting a little petulant.

Apparantly Aisake had a go at skinny when he was playing badly (Aisake that is) for the ants.

Alledgedly they have been whingeing about things and the club is getting sick of it.

Everyone is against them.

Not surprised to see them both gone.
Having difficulties understanding the nuances of the game.
Aisake - worst on ground last week for the Bullants.
Rude to Skinny when given directions.
Many people at the club are sick of their whinging.

We shouldnt have to drag kouta down to talk some sense into them.

I love the Irish boys but if they cant respect the senior coach and the rest of the coaching panel they can flower off with the rest of the prima donnas dragging our club down

I think you will find that the irish boys, in particular Setanta has busted a gut trying to learn the game and get a game in the seniors.

They train hard, they train after the other players have gone in and they don't drink.

Hardly prima-donnas. I think as has been mentioned, they are frustrated by the changing nature of our game plane as opposed to having a sook, because Aisake hasn't had a game.

All of this is assuming that we suddenly believe in a rumour posted by someone on another site.

When did rumour become fact on TC?

Sadly Talking Carlton has become too much of a rumour mill. Too many "ëxperts" who sadly dont have any clue and feed on each other.

I started this thread because the poster Peony on CSC seemed to have been given a lot of credence by regulars over there so I was hoping for comment from a few of our posters who are close to the action.

I suspect there is a bit of truth in peony's post but I suspect it has come from one person rather than a consensus. But if you check the thread over at CSC now and see the reaction of Peony to even the most mild questioning you begin to wonder exactly where he is coming from. From his reaction I sure hope he's not too close to the club.

I said if they cant respect the coach - i appreciate all the hard work etc - but they need to respect their bosses at the end of the day

if its rumour so be it - i hope it is

The main point is communication. Coaches are people managers and need to be really good at communicating and getting 40 guys to do things their way. The challenge is for Ratts to get all players playing his way with ferocity and endeavour. Hasn't happened in the first few weeks. And if he can't get through to the O'hs then he needs to, it is his job. I'm not entirely convinced that Carlton's 'process' of jobs for the boys, no outsiders considered, with ratts, Lappo and Teaguey is the best way to go. Very little coaching experience in the seniors or ressies at present. Needs to be some fast learning on both sides of the fence.

I told ye this a while back and i hate my head bitten off. This has been going on for years now and it wont change. They wont listen and get offended when some of the boys avoid them because they keep asking the same questions over and over again.

Is that when Skinny and Teague were both coaching fromplaying on the field and the interchange rotations went out the back door?

I have Carlton in the blood and could never barrack for anyone else, but if we end up getting rid of these two I will just give up entirely...

it feels for me personally that I've been barracking for the O'h's more than the team itself over the last few years, and will be at my wits end if it ends up pear shaped..

I mean, to my way of thinking if the O'h's come good, its a sign that the whole bloody team will eventually... and all I keep hearing is how bad Setanta was in the ruck the last year, how he doesn't do the little extra things and how he runs around out of position.. um, did he not kick a goal every game he was played in the ruck last year, after Clokey went down???? Does it seem like he has been told to go out and try something different? No.

Personally, I think our entire playing list is too similar, and I mean in terms of backgrounds...Essendon* has the Indigenous fleet, and Bachar Houli, every other team who has invested in Irish talent seems to be coming off... most teams have a bit of a mix, but Carlton still looks like a boys club... if you don't know the rules then bugger off... if Setanta in particualr, and Aisake, aren't coming along, then I blame only one person. Ratten. I keep waiting for Setanta to improve in the space of a season out of sight the way he apparently did in his first year of hurling...

Ratten just doesn't seem very smart, despite his being supposedly a smart person. Is he a good communicator? Probably not. Was he my favorite player way back when...yes. Do I like him now? Less and less every week...[/i]

If this were the case I would expect that you'd show one of our favourite sons more respect :garthp:

I think we are placing too much emphasis on a rumour that has not been confirmed.

Exactly. I posted on the game thread that its not the end of the world that Setanta gets some time in the twos. We were begging for depth last year(s) for players to be dropped when out of form. This is a good sign when guys can be sent back to the magoos.

By all reports, Setanta has had an interrupted pre-season and is not 100% in terms of fitness. When you are carrying Judd, Stevens, Hadley and others who are similarly underdone, it makes sense to send some back for match fitness and form. This may also explain Bentick staying there, despite good form last week. We need the players to get runs back into their legs.

Back to Setanta. I love to watch him play and I thought his development was solid last year. I want him to succeed and I hope the rumour is BS. That said, regardless of the rumour, I don't believe that Setanta's potential long term success (or failure) is necessarily entwined with Carlton's.

I never said that it was entwined...just sort of feels that way for me cause he's my favorite player. but we'll come good regardless...
