......or may be 10 or 12 other reasons as to why they haven't posted. It is the holiday season after all.

naaaa ... there's trouble I reckon...
I don't understand what the fuss is all about. Trouble brewing?? We have just concluded an election and AGM and all 13 board directors have been elected by the members. The next election will be in December 2008 when one third of the Board will stand for election (4 people). No one can be forced to stand down, it simply doesn't happen. The only time I can recall in recent years that someone resigned/retired under pressure was Marcus Rose. The Board is large in number and no doubt it will reduce over time as people retire. However, as we have an excellent CEO and administration, the Board is not involved in the running of the Club (not like it used to be).
Finally, I wanted to comment on Barack Obama's statements about a lawyer's ability to run a business as much has been said on this thread about a certain barrister. There are three lawyers on the Board, Simon Wilson QC, Marcus Clarke and myself. Both Simon and Marcus are barristers (sole business practitioners) and both excellent at their trade. Fortunately, there have been few legal issues to deal with during 2007 (unlike other years). I am a solicitor and Chairman of my firm. From 1994 to 2004 I was Managing Partner and CEO and became Chairman when we appointed an external CEO in 2004. My firm spans three states and has in excess of 150 staff with a turnover greater than CFC. Whilst not offended by previous comments on this thread, I wanted to point out that I brought more than pure legal experience to the table when I joined the Board and apart from having introduced sponsors and hospitality users to the Club I have set up the finance broking business that has recently started. Apologies if this sounds defensive but I simply wanted to state my position.
Cheers
