BUT, as wrong as it was, it does not bring the game of AFL football into "disrepute".

am curious as to why you think it doesn't. wouldn't you want a man who is beyond reproach as your president?

his 'fair whack' is equivalent to about a $500 fine for you or i.

anyway, irrespective of whether he stays or goes pratt has restrengthened the club as promised so his work is essentially done.

Yes Polar, you would like them as credible and as decent as possible, but if you start setting the bar so high, the pool of AFL Presidents would be very shallow indeed. AFL Presidents are there because they are, primarily, successful in business. Business at the pointy end is a robust caper, so Mother Theresa need not apply. Really, think it through, how many current AFL Presidents are complete business "cleanskins"? Frank Costa is a decent family man, but would eat his young to get another box of Vegies on the truck....

He copped his fair wack as it was a record, and appropriate, penalty - penalties aren't based on "capacity to pay" or a % of net wealth. You don't need to be a Senior Counsel to know that.

If he diddled the Club, ripped off one his charities, yes, remove him pronto. For that offence, I'm not so sure.

Ummm....

No one ever asked John Wren to leave Collignwood and Dick Pratt is no John Wren.

Both of their records speak for themselves. Mascot role for Sticks and player mentor - perfect

The whole debate is piffle.

Indeed it is JW.

Fatprick and his colleagues are now educated to the fact that, as sadly may've been the case previously, the media will NOT dictate the Carlton agenda in future!!

A big F.U. :!:

ACCC must have selective hearing when investugating price fixing. They have just concluded that it does not occur in the oil industry and petrol prices are not fixed. Yeah sure.......

As Agro stated, it's not so much that they couldn't find evidence of it. It's more like, they couldn't get one of the big four to squeal to them about the others. That's all the ACCC is good for, after all.

If Filth Fans are so hell bent on the AFL introducing "Code of Character Laws" and further want to make them retrospective - then Collingwood can kiss the 27, 28, 29 and 30 Premierships sweet goodbye.

Looks like February...2008.

"The policy has been developed after consultation with AFL clubs and players and is based on a very simple concept - that every person involved in the AFL is in a privileged position," chief executive Andrew Demetriou said in the memo.

"This includes players, coaches, umpires, team support staff, board members and club and AFL employees - if you are part of the AFL you are the focal point of Australia's only indigenous game.

"All persons involved in the AFL can be expected to be held to a higher standard of behaviour."

Cue Dr. Zaius.
