Simmo is most certainly captaincy material. However, Judd is a more accomplished player/leader, and so I believe it comes down to who has the support of the players. And guess who votes on the captaincy?
Not the players. If they did Lance would never have become captain (as someone tried to tell you).
OK, I was just putting my opinion forward (and what Brett Ratten has said). Could you try to be a bit more civil next time? Internet forums have a way of filtering out the tone of your thoughts and all I can see is the words you type.
What's more,
Ratten has said many times that the playing group will vote on the captain. I don't know what happened last year, but that's irrelevant to this year. Either the process has changed, or Lance Whitnall commanded more respect amongst the players than previously believed. I believe the process has changed.

By the way, what was with the "someone tried to tell you" thing?
I am of the understanding that the players will vote on the captaincy in February as far as I know, and it will be out of a leadership group that the coaching staff (or the higher powers ) will put together around a similar time.
I'm not aware that Ratten has said many times that the playing group will decide the captaincy. Where did you hear that?

Ratten wants to install a leadership group, rotate the captaincy during the pre-season among those players, then make a permanent decision on who will skipper the Blues.
Judd is a standout candidate to take over from the retired Lance Whitnall, having skippered previous club West Coast until his off-season move to Carlton.
But there are also several in-house options, headed by midfielder Nick Stevens.
"We'll put together a leadership group of roughly six to seven players, they'll put their hand up, and when we get closer to the season we'll pick a captain," Ratten said.
My reading of that is he and maybe the MC will make the decison, as it's always been. Certainly last year it was Pagan & maybe some members of the MC who wanted Whitnall but not the players, who didn't respect him enough or believe he set a good enough example with his preparation, as I would have thought was well known by now. That was first raised here a year ago but disbelieved by many at that time, though from your joining date you wouldn't have been here then.
And I don't know what "Internet forums have a way of filtering out the tone of your thoughts and all I can see is the words you type" means but I'm just telling you that AFAIK the players won't be deciding the captaincy and definitely haven't in the past. If it's to be changed, I'm not aware of that.
