and 2 major sponsors were fighting for our services- amazing that the name of the sponsor is yet to be leaked t- the club is keeping very quiet about it

Optus will remain as a smaller sponsor...

That's actually quite refreshing to hear.

Optus have stuck with us through the shit years. I remember Mayne jumped off after 2 lean years.

I would love it....

But they are sponsoring the NBL.

Besides which Hummer as a brand see themselves as a niche product in a defined market. They can generate exposure to that market without spending the $$$ for the kind of deal we are talking here.

Somene like Etihad/Virgin Blue would be the go I would think. They're working in a mass market where penetration of their message to the widest possible audience is crucial.

Well if "Massive" is the cryptic hint - lets google! 8)

So here it is:

It could be:

a) A Belgium Light company: "Massive" The group has 5000 employees worldwide and three highly sophisticated production units producing over 150 000 decorative and outdoor fixtures per day. In 2007 it merged with Philips...

b) Animation company: Massive is the premier 3D animation system for generating crowd-related visual effects for film and television. Using Massive, an animator or TD designs characters with a set of reactions to what is going on around them.

c)"Massive Entertainment": Massive Entertainment, founded in 1997, is a premier producer of games and interactive entertainment software for a worldwide market. Its world acclaimed PC game 'Ground Control', launched in 2000, established Massive Entertainment as one of the most innovative developers in the real time strategy genre. Further, the company has developed several integrated games for mobile phone, SMS and WAP platforms, and a number of additional titles for the PC.

In 2002 Vivendi Universal Games (VUG) acquired the company to become one of only two development studios outside North America. Together Massive and VUG are now working on the top entertainment titles of the future.

d) A web developer: Massive was established in 1996 by co-founders Ron Downey, Louise van Rooyen and Derek Ellis. Early work specialised in CD-ROM and web development that garnered numerous industry awards. Massive's reputation for quality and technical innovation quickly attracted highly experienced staff from all around the world.

e) Microsoft????: Microsoft to Acquire In-Game Advertising Pioneer Massive Inc.
Massive’s technology for weaving dynamic, relevant ads into video games will extend next-generation advertising across Microsoft properties and beyond.

OMG...You googled "Massive" and didn't find any porn sites???

Whaddya know...Johnny Howard's filter thingy is working!....

I can't believe the frenzy this thread is causing...great stuff...30 pages of anticipation....can only be beaten by a couple of hundred episodes of the X-files where people only watched to see if Mulder would boink Scully

Massive -

Possibilities include

Bluescope Steel/Rio Merger - A massive new company, one party of which formerly had the moniker " The BIG Australian". Formerly big - now MASSIVE.

or

Singapore/Tiger Airlines Group/Temasek Holdings/Singapore Government - A massively successful operation.

or

IBM/Lenovo - formerly BIG Blue, now Massive Blue after being taken over.

Now that would be flowering ginormous!

hummer makes sense
- big company brand that is making a concerted push into the australian market (in recent times high profile/visibility of hummer stretch limos, billboards, sponsorship of NBL)
- known for being big, bold, arrogant - fits in well with the blues image

I also think that hummer is moving away from a niche product into the mainstream. The new model H3 is pretty much a 60-70k 4WD - smaller than the traditional hummers so would be likely to be aimed at the mass market similar to other mid range 4WDs

hummer's marketing budget is miniscule.

also, they're going to sell pretty much every hummer they're ever going to sell in this market within 2 years.

they have neither the budget, nor the need to sink millions of dollars into a football club sponsorship.

Personally, I'd take 'massive' to mean a large sum, rather than a cryptic clue.
