Herald Sun is garbage. If anyone can spend more than 8 min reading it, they lose 10000 brain cells a minute thereafter. The Age has a quite decent sports section, in quantity and quality.

Yeah it is.

Think of the Herald Sun as like ACA and Today Tonight - Garbage which appeals to the lowest common denominator, and the Age like shows on SBS and ABC like Insight which actually address real issues, but nobody watches them because they would rather read about who Warnie texts.

Only thing that annoys me about the Age is the fricking size of the thing. I reckon 90% of Hun's success is the fact that you can actually read it while sitting down.

Yes they are still young; Yes Ratts will need time to mould them into a premiership side; and no I'm not expecting us to necessarily play finals next year. But lets be fair dinkum here, if we are holding up the ladder again, and we aren't at least still in the hunt to play finals at round 16 then there is something seriously wrong with our players cause they have now run out of excuses.

I think that assessing where we are at at round 16 is still a bit early. It takes at least half a season for a new coach to fully implement his gameplan on the player, just look at St Kilda this year and how long it took for them to come good.
For me I expect us to come in around 10-12th, that is what a pass would be, 8-10th would be considered a good year, but lets just see how the whole year pans out before we judge the playing group.

Good to know you know what it takes to make a quality newspaper...

Absolutely, I always start reading from the back.

And stop reading when you get to Andrew Bolt's column.

Andain... In what way has The Age in your words"blown past" the Herald Sun? That is just an uneducated, ridiculos comment. The Sunday Herald Sun sells 623,000 copies. The Sunday Age only 200,500. Mon-Sat is a similar margin. The Herald Sun in the number 3 brand in Vic behind only Cadbury and Bunnings. The Age is no.18. The Herald Sun is also the no.1 media brand in Vic. The Age is no.6. In all states except Vic the ABC is no. 1. The Herald Sun has won more PANPA awards than another newspaper in the in the Pacific Region. It is also the newspaper of the AFL. Jon Ralph had an opinion and was looking for a bite. Well done Andain. You gave him his wish.

PANPA Awards are nothing to write home about, they are usually given for design, not editorial quality. Wakely Awards hold a great deal more prestige and the age has won a lot more than the HS. If readership figures are what you're looking at, then you're right. But the HS is a pictorial newspaper and tabloids always sell more than broadsheets in all markets in the world. It does not make it the better newspaper.

The News group's offerings are always below that of Fairfax, West Australian and even APN for that matter in relation to the quality of journalism - and that is by design. The only newspaper in the News stable worth mentioning in relation to the Age is the Australian. Look at the circulation figures for that (as a national) and compare them to the Age as a state-based daily.

Actually the HUN is indeed a rubbish paper, but I do admit to reading it.

However to put things in perspective, on a recent visit to Sydnay - the telegraph, or whatever their tabloid is called there - is far far worse than the HUN.

It makes the HUN look brainy - thats how bad it is.

As bad as our tabloid is, theres worse on offer elsewhere.

They've changed the title on the net but in the papers we're referred to as 'pathetic' which is just a weak cheap shot from a garbage paper. I don't blame Jon Ralph because he doesn't write the headings, that's up to the sub-editors, but the mere fact that the Sun felt it was fine to go ahead with such an offensive heading deserves condemnation. Surely that club has to find some way to response to this sort of crap? :x

I think it is a fair appraisal of where we are at.

Really?

$3 million dollar profit.
Strong Administration
Best CEO in the business.
Chris Judd.
Multi-billion dollar president.
Just stole the fitness manager of the Australian Cricket Team
Youngest player list in the league.

Jon Ralph was actually fairly positive in the article claiming Carlton is 'back on track' and its just the players who have to stand up now.

Calling us pathetic is just a cheap shot from an amature organisation. No wonder the Age has blown past the HS in recent years.

Don't discount the fact that you fielded the youngest Carlton team in 137 years during the season as well.
