You need to get over this whole Sydney thing KK.
We've had a good run the last few years, apart from the fact that the Swans have flogged us whenever we've played them.

First: NO!
Second, given that Canberra is merely a small satellite city just beyond the outskirts of Sydney, there's a market there which could be utilised, rather than the pissy small-town markets in Adelaide and Perth. Don't tell me that a ton of Canberrans would prefer to stay home rather than come up to Sydney to watch the team play, even if it is for the Who Cares.
The Club has to try and push our brand into every major city every season, whether it be the season proper, or the Who Cares Cup. If we play a Who Cares match up here, then it takes the pressure off having to play up here in the real season, and still leaves Sydney and Canberra (and Wollongong, and Newcastle, etc) fans satisfied that they can go to the footy and see THEIR team play. The Filth and Scum fans get that up here EVERY YEAR.
Maybe if we're lucky, Carlton will be the Nth Sydney Oval praccy match this year.
And I seem to remember a preseason match against Sydney where we gave them an almighty thumping. OK, they weren't really trying, but it was sure as hell fun!
KK, have you ever thought that the Sydney market might not actually hold much potential for our club?
Perth residents, on the other hand, are continually sharing anecdotal evidence that outside of the two local teams that Carlton is the most widely supported club. Adelaide is similar.
On top of that, in regards to your not so subtle dig at Canberra, if I'm going to make the effort to go to a game, I'd rather go to one in Melbourne anyway.
I have some homework for you. Take a look at the other Victorian based clubs and compare their trips to Sydney to ours over the last 5-7 years to see if we are actually hard done by. Looking at halford's figures of 3 games there in the last 5 years I'd suggest that that 5-year cycle is about right for us, if it is indeed a somewhat recurring pattern.
