That's why I was so sure you guys would pick him up. Just another "white knight" that you put so much faith in that delivers nothing.

:P

As against the various black and white piles of poo that your mob put their faith in who deliver...

...um...

...um...

...um...

...oh yeah - nothing!

Ouch!

Using your reasoning, MM must be considered a white knight... 8)

So what's your take on McKenna ADP. IS he senior coach material? How highly do C'wood people rate him?

I know that the club rates him highly and he was next cab off the rank for the St Kilda job I think.

I can't really comment further than he's responsible for our forward planning to counter our opponents set ups, strategies, etc.

Given our cattle, I'd suggest he's done a pretty good job. You can't buy the experience he had as part of that backline either.

I find it extraordinary that the media pressure may have gotten to him, hence his decision.

What the flower does that say about his potential to coach, if the pressure now got to him.

Weak as water and is living off his efforts and reputation in a team made up of 21 other players.

He was a brilliant but that does not automatically make him a brilliant coach.

As GWS said - we dodged a bullet.

Now can the selection panel looking at our coaching future, please select a panel with credentials FFS!

I think I'd prefer a complete outsider - but not McKenna. Gut feeling again :-D

That's my concern as well. We need a clean break IMO but if it's a choice between Ratten or someone like McKenna or Sumich, i'm going for Ratts.

I posted almost a week ago about a meeting Greg Swann had with Chris Bond. Chris Bond is and always has been on the short list for the role. my source has advised that he has for the past week been preparing for his interview. My source can also confirm that he is in fact the favourite not Ratten for the role as we currently stand.

With you there.

I am concerned that Josh Kaplan, whose sources are good, still reckons he was over the line a month or so ago. Just confirms misgivings many of us have about the 'process' Carlton continues to follow. How could we have a guy who is equivocal about the club and coaching, over the line. Shades of Mal Blight at the Saints, except he had proved he could coach and had experience, he just had to be begged to take the job.

Don't think Vossy comes out of this very well at all. The immaturity in his , 'love to coach', 'not sure make me an offer', 'don't want to coach' approach indicates clearly that he doesn't at present have the required qualities. So why was Carlton so keen?

If he was 'over the line' if he wanted it then I am still really worried about how we are going about this.

Then again Vossy may have read TC and realised the wisdom of several of the opinions expressed here....

After reading between the lines I think one can make a distinction (clear or otherwise) that we'd essentially anticipated Voss' likely availability and said "we've baggsed him". I guess that is as close to signing someone up before looking into it too hard, but it could also have been a pro-active club going out there and chasing talent without giving any guarantees either way.

We may have dodged a bullet, we may have missed the bus. Only our good friend The Fullness-Of-Time can answer that one.

What is becoming clearer, to my eye at least, is the willingness and brashness of the club in chasing what it wants. The club is almost DEMANDING what it wants, or so it seems.

With Kouta's words from his retirement to the effect that once this club is back on it's feet and pumping ... you wouldn't want to be anywhere else ... I, for one, am getting just a wee bit excited at what will transpire over the next few years, both in the immediate short term and into the future. Well into the future

In the past few years we've often thought/claimed/hoped that Carlton is starting to turn things around. This time, I think we actually have.

:-D

i'm not sold on Chris Bond at all, i know he will apply for the position but i would imagine there are better candidates out there than him

Ratten for one is a better candidate imo than Bond, anyhow Carlton will go through the process & pick the right person for the job, believe it or not but i think Roos is still in the hunt for us as coach

Things are on the way up for Carlton, all looking & sounding promising from what we all here

Voss = Fool

Thank God for that.

I've been worried about Voss all along but at times have been talked around by others who claim messiah status for him. Always came across as a bit thick for mine. This decision (or his lack of a previous decision) has exposed him as lacking in brains big time.

If you want to coach an AFL side you need to make that decision BEFORE putting your name out there. Instead this stupid little git has sold himself all over town without having actually committed to coaching.

Vossy - you can go and join the line of "I coulda been a great coach" wankers with Gary and Dermott.

If you can't realise that you're stuffing people around with this sort of behaviour how in the flower do you expect to manage a list of 40 odd players?

Hope he enjoyed the attention.

We dodged a bullet with this one I reckon.

Entirely agree

I admit that at first I loved the idea of Voss coaching our boys. I thought he would be perfect considering the inspiration he was to his teammates during their glory years. But the longer this has gone on, the less impressed I became with him, and admit that we indeed dodged a bullet.

It's not often that I agree with that pig Jason Dunstall, but the way Voss has conducted himself during this time has really turned me off him. His um'ing and aah'ing and "Make me an offer" attitude is all wrong. Let Ratts, Bond and Bluey now prove themselves.

For what its worth, I heard it was a 'it's yours if you want it or coach nowhere' deal with Voss.

If that was the case, then we have some very smart operators on our side. :)

Yes this insult was totally incorrect.

Correct insult and bantering response:

Dominator_7: "Mandy you are not fit to feed swill to pigs."

Mandy: "I object to that insult"

Dominator_7: "Okay you are fit to feed swill to pigs."

Honour satisfied and moderators happy.
