I have followed your posts for the last couple of years Brizzy, and I'd have to say that this is one of the better ones - although I can't agree with your proposed trades.
Personally, i'd like to see Fev traded for a ruckman first, then maybe a midfielder/halback and possible later pick.
With the midfielders that have come up in this years carnival, I think that we would be able to take a chance and still come up with a quality midfielder with our 2nd (Priority) pick.
Having said all that, who would be a suitable ruck swap?
I don't think that there a too many in the right age group that would be stand-outs, but maybe some together as a combination with a midfielder might be the go?
Maybe Seaby/Hurn and late pick for example?
I think that the worse the Eagles play, the better it will be for us at draft week.
Personally, I think Judd will stay at WCE - so rule out any Judd-Fevola swap.
With the likes of Priddis, Hurn, Kerr, Embley and Fletcher to back up Judd and the ageing cousins, I'd aim for Hurn.
His size would be a great bonus for our young midfield.
As for Rosa - ditto.
Gotta be Hurn and one of their talls. Cox (I wish!), Seaby or Graham (but that would require further boosting of the deal on WCE part).
You have to look at it from the point of view of the potential draftee as well.
I think Hurn would thrive on the sort of role that we would require of him, Seaby might want to step out from Cox's shadow, and someone like Graham would relish the opportunity to be playing regular footy, although he is more a key defender than a ruck option.
There is a whisper that WCE may entertain the thought of giving de-listed forward Brad Smith another lifeline, which would obviously be a cheaper option for them.
I hope not cos we need this trade to happen.
We could get for example Hurn and Seaby (plus a pick) for Fev, pick up eg Kruzer with the PP and maybe Palmer with pick 4.
The suggested Freo swap on here sends a shiver down my spine!
They may be saying that this is a shallow draft, but I am really looking forward to it.
If the new admin arrivals at the club live up to their reputations, then we should be able to really clean up this year.
As for the new coach, I'm sitting on the fence between McKenna and Ratts.
My heart says Ratts, my head says McKenna.
Anyway, good post Brizzy.
