He was a dud coach at St Kilda, didnt even last the season out.

I forgot he won 2 premierships with a gun list of players at Adelaide.

VOSS sounds good but really we dont even know if he can coach at all. He might have a few fancy diagrams on Channel 10 and sound really intelligent as a coach to be but even Dermott Brereton sounds like he could be a good coach on tv

Well blighty - anyone can coach a gun team like Adelaide in the 90s

 A gun team that won the premiership from 4th spot in 1997 and 5th spot in 1998. The same coach who put Ellen in the forward line in 1997 and Jarman in the goalsquare in 1998.

While Voss appears the obvious choice with many including myself I'd like to make him earn it at the interview table.....

Perhaps the 'interviewing process' is currently progressing via outside consultancy?

I just remember him calling David Pittmans performance after one game the most pitiful and disgraceful he had ever seen from a ruckman.....I think Cain Ackland's lucky Blighty isnt coaching us at the present....

What the?

Voss is leap years ahead of Lyon if every sense.

Although you are right... the media have linked Voss to every coaching job in Australia.

I reckon we got him!

Tell me, how many premierships are won by teams without a gun list?

Don't forget the couple of GFs he took Geelong to as well. Twice he built up a list for Gary Ayres to screw up.

Not to mention that Blight coached Woodville to their first SANFL flag in a very long time, if not ever, after he finished up playing in the VFL.

You're right, he's a dud.

Still, he's probably an old skool coach, I'll grant you that. But just think a little bit longer next time, especially if you're going to dump on one of the game's true greats. ;)

All he did was kick a torpedo 70m. Fev tries that and he gets in the SH!ts lol

Ok to me a good coach is someone that can get the best out of their players and create new strategys when their key players out.

Now l hate to say this, but l have grown respect for Malthouse and Clarkson this year. They have really got the best out of their players.

Pies have been playing kids all year and Hawks lost their full forward early on in the season and are now sitting in the top 4

I dont care who is coach, just get a coach that can get the best out of all his players. Pagan has never done that for more then a couple games a year, thats why we are so bad.

Also, will the players respect Vossy? He has only been out of the game about a year. Carlton players have been playing against him for the past few years. Its hard for players to fit in to a club, let alone a ex player coming in and taking over a club just after 1 year. Also, bit hard for Vossy to tell people off for clubbing when he was involved in a brawl last year.

He just wont demand the same respect as a malthouse, matthews, sheedy, laidley etc after the honey moon period is over. Unless they are very successful early on

Liadley is also another coach this year getting the best of his players

His list is crap and is fitting just inside the 8 or near about.

Do you really believe that Blight was a dud player and coach, or are you just stirring?

Surely we would take Ratten who is one of our own, who understands what a successful Carlton team was once like and has done his training to become a senior coach over Voss.

I would not be angry or dissapointed if we did get Voss, but I think we are looking past Ratten probably because he has coached under Pagan and that has tainted his chances.

Ratten was a champion, very humble and well respected just like Voss, let remember that!

We need someone outside of Carlton this is why I dont want Ratts. He has been tainted by pagan. Dont you all recall Ratten justifying some of the player moves by Pagan and saying they were good ones. I lost all respect when that happened.

Voss, Mckenna whoever etc. Just get pagan out......

the fact that longmire played for so long under pagan should rule him out.

lets look at mckenna, harvey and voss.

i would be happy with any of them.

actually, add gary o'donnell to the list, as well as chris bond and peter sumich

When was Ratten tainted by Pagan?

He's been coached by Jezza, Parkin, Brittain, Pagan, coached under Daniher and Pagan.

His stints under Pagan have been half a season each so far. 1 year out of 14 :?

As for him justifying the moves made by Pagan....what do you really expect him (and the board) to say?

True, Trublu but I do think we should have someone outside of Carltons culture just to add a new dimension.

Think about it we have had Parkin, Jezza, Walls, Brittain (Parkin Clone) then Pagan. I reckon they were all similar in that they were the old fashion type of coach who did not really look outside the square. Dictorial coaches.

I think we need a progressive sort of coach who looks outside the square and re-invents themselves.

As much as we all hate Sheedy, he has not coached the same. He has moved with the times.

PS I thought Brittain was going to be this Coach for us, but boy was I wrong. Tainted by Parkin.

Ratten I reckon is one of the boys at Carlton. Don't want someone like that................... Had enough of the boys club.

It would also be nice to go through an interview process to find the best coach rather than just appoint one.

Of course if you already know who the best coach is, you may not necessarily be able to publicly reveal you're interviewing him

been listening to mmm. BT made some valid points. and we all know how good his hints are (he said pratt was to be president last year).

he stated a few things today:

- pagan will be gone (ok that is pretty obvious)
- cfc's primary bank was NAB (and we know who the boss at NAB is), we are now with Westpac
- Pratt likes SOS, SOS is mates with Ahmed Fahour
- if Ahmed was to join the board, he would no longer have a conflict
