How is the club dealing with the younger generation who are seeing this club losing week in and week out?
My first memory of football was seeing the blues win the 95' grandfinal...and now, there are millions of kids around australia who have seen the blues finish 16th, 15th, 16th and 16th across 5 seasons. I know there is such things as family tradition and 'true blue's', but the fact is...watching a club win is what shapes young kid's minds....there is no doubt there WILL be a supporter gap in the current generation as they grow older....
what plans are there to combat this hole?
As an addition to this question …
One of the only things keeping the young generation interested in the Blues has been the on field and off field (where he is tremendous with the younger supporters) work of Brendan Fevola. He is a unique personality (as flawed as some may say he is) that contributes to his standing as a superstar of the game. Many of this generation of players are seen as being homogenised and stale (although wholesome) and whilst this is a great marketing tool for parents, these characters appeal is limited somewhat for children when compared to the enigmatic personality of a Fevola.
How do the club see us as being able to maintain memberships and public interest if it were to trade what is our most valuable commodity in a marketing sense. I am of the opinion that we would have members and supporters jump off in droves if we moved Fev on. How do the board feel about this outcome and the possible fallout it would unleash?
