Folks, check the colour of the screen here, it's navy blue, not black and yellow. Lets all stop eating our own.

Fev has had some issues but at times over the last couple of years he has been the only thing worth getting excited about down at PP. If he stays we need to get behind him 100%, if he goes we should wish him well and thank him for his contribution to the club.

A little bit of bagging is Ok and at times Fev deserves it but I hate to see the feeding frenzy develop for a bloke that at times has been a sole beacon in a sea of despair. Will never forget who was the only bloke to fly the flag when the filth decided to rough up MM earlier this year!!!

Not last week. His childish, selfish, petulant behaviour (still...*yawn*) meant that he wasn't playing. Mark Riley didn't have to think about Fevola for a minute.

And that's the problem...he's been doing it for nearly 10 years, what makes anyone thinks Fevola is going to change his ways?

Now all of you are bagging him and finding all these little faults.

It wont be long that you will all jump back on his bandwagon. I bloody hope we do not trade him. Who knows if the players we pick up from the draft picks end up being duds, getting injured etc there are no guarantees.

Fev is our own home grown boy and we need to persist with talent like him.. Get a good coach and we start winning some games, and he will be different.

Tell yourselves, name one player all other coaches think about when playing Carlton, Yep Fevola.............. Not many more. Who do all the kids love Fevola......... Yep not many more.

So dont give me this bagging of Fev crap all of a sudden...................

PS. I agree with him being re-primanded for his on field behaviour.

He should've been primanded in the first place.....

You are kidding right? I'd name Walker, Murphy, Gibbs, Carrazzo, Waite, Fisher, Simpson, Kennedy, Bentick, O'Hailpin (both Aisake & Setanta), Austin, Anderson & Grigg as shining lights, all within the last 3 years! While I understand Fev has had a far bigger impact on the club than the others, he has also had a far more negative impact on the club than these others. So much so, that he seems to believe he is actually bigger than this club.

I hope he stays too because you don't get too many 80+ goal kickers at the moment but only if he agrees to pull his head in & play as a team player. Otherwise, I'm more than happy to see him go. I'd rather lose him & keep the remaining kids listed above than lose 5 or 6 of the kids who don't like Fev's attitude just to accommodate him.

It's harsh I know & I would rather see him kick goals for Carlton than for any other team but I think it would harm our development as a team if we kept someone on the list who wasn't willing to play for the jumper.

Hello people, I said he has been the only shining light over the last few years. Yes we have some potential shining lights, but Fev is the only one that can win us a game of footy on his own.

I did not say no-one else is exciting.

You are all forgetting what he has achieved for Carlton. I have never seen a Carlton Coleman medalist before. He is a BIG reason why our membership is high.

If you count all his stuff ups over the years, its bad but its nothing that we cannot handle with proper leadership and management.

Why are we all turning on Fev now. Its bullshit. You guys are bloody fickle.

Why not mention while we are at it, Waites shits kicks at goal, Carazzos decision making, Houlas softness, Thorntons bitching and always 10 metres behind, Eddies disappearances, Scotlands crap disposal, Fishers kicking for goal, Benticks slowness, Russells chickenshitness, Walkers sometimes poor disposal etc.

I think Thornton is more of a problem on the field than the Fev. Thornton always bags players around him. No-body mentions that. At least Fev gives us something. I dont care what you all say and if you think I am being stupid. I think this bagging of Fev is ridiculous.

So what has Fev achieved FOR Carlton?

Look, his own teammates voted him 4th in a four horse race for the captaincy rotation, what does that say to you? I wouldn't care if we gave him away for nothing, the place will pick up and we 'll get a lift from the playing group, one that plays for each other as opposed to playing for coleman medals that mean absolute Jack. We're in this business to flower win flags, not for individuals to get off on their ability because they kicked 80 goals in ONE year.We still easily kicked 14 goals without him on Sunday and only poor kicking stopped us kicking 20. All you fools who try to tell us we'll only kick five goals when he doesn't play for us are misguided. We've kicked our highest scores when he has kicked only one or two.

And before you go at Thornton, you'd have a look at Heath 'it's not my fault that I didn't pick up my man' Scotland. You tell me the last time he did a 1%er for a teammate. The guy wins cheap kicks, runs at 45 degress so he's not really going anywhere, then does a full circle, then kicks it forward to nobody. Fancy he and Lance taking young first year recruits out till all hours, what's with that? He should be next on Swannies list. We need to get rid of this root rot now or we'll be bottom four as long as these guys are around. And don't worry about the other guys you mentioned, at least they give a rats about their teammates.

that has now turned to fev has always been all about himself and he is shit and everything he does is for te fev only

talk about picking at a dead carcass

what a turnaround !

Hardly a vulture!
I have been on record since 1999 and a lot of my posts in here and the old TBV have indicated a keen distaste for Mr. Fevola. Funny that I seem to have been right all along on this one point. Geez, even Inside Football who put a little mention from Talking Carlton in their p8 "Outer Limits" section see right through him.

Amen to that! Unfortunately most supporters will believe this spin this week and expect him to come out and kick 8 in superb effort and he may well do it. He won't be doing it in 3 weeks time I would suggest. I reckon 3 weeks down the track, after he has towed the party line for a few weeks and had a decent 'try' he will be back to the Brendan we all know and that some deluded fools actually love.

I've been on record criticising thorntons abuse of teammates before (several years ago) and stated that he should not be considered for any leadership position whilst that is part of his game.

Fev on field demeanour is significantly worse than thorntons because unlike thornton, there are numerous occassions where Fev just stops chasing or gives less than 100%. I certainly cant recall an occassion where thornton has appeared to give any less than 100% at a contest despite being badly beaten in previous contests. Unfortunately we cant say the same for fevola and therein lies the problem.

On most of the players you listed above - the 'weaknesses' you suggest are mainly due to skill level - not for lack of application. People tend to be less critical of players if they are seen to be doing their best. If their best isnt good enough, then we move them on either through trades or drafting. I'd never criticise prendergast for example because he made the most of his ability. I doubt there would be any person out there who would suggest that Fev has consistently tried to make the most of his ability - even last season there were ocassions where Fev just didnt put in.

Had we good leadership and management, Fev would have been told in no uncertain terms that his attitude and application wasnt good enough. Any repeated failure to step up would have seen him traded years ago.

It is an indictment on how far the club and its administration had fallen that Fev had never previously been 'put in his place' and even considered in the leadership group, let alone for captaincy. Its also somewhat ironic that the only person that had the balls to either discipline fevola (by dropping him) or consider trading him was wayne brittain. Its not surprising that we havent had any good leadership/management from the administration until Pratt became president.

Turn on Fev? I'm not sure about that.

I can only speak for myself of course, but I would be staggered if there was anyone on this board whose first choice wasn't a fully focused Fev, totally committed to a team effort with team success at the Blues.

I also don't think anyone here denies his potential greatness as a player. However that greatness doesn't give him a free pass to act like a sook every time something doesn't go his way.

Fev's situation is different to that of Thornton. T-Bird tries his guts out every week and is playing out of position. He appears to genuinely care about what's going on around him. Granted, sometimes he doesn't show it in the right way, and he should be taken aside and spoken to about it (that would be the captain's job... oh... right). Fev's tantrum against Freo was true poison, because he'd totally given up on his teammates and was there for himself alone. I have played with both sorts - you might get a bit jacked off at the T-Bird type, but at least you know he gives a flower. I think the actions of Fev's teammates when they had a chance to show it speaks volumes for their opinion of him.

It @#$%&! annoys me when ppl keep saying this. Why do we want someone who can win a game off his own boot for us? If the Carlton Football Club needs to have a player in the team to win a game off his own boot, I can tell you we won't be doing very well in the competition.

How long can this player play for. What happens if that player is not playing for us? Are we [REDACTED] then, since we don't have this player who can win the game off his own boot for us? Using this excuse as an argument to keep Fev is plain ludicrous.

It's a team game for goodness sakes. We need all 18 players on the field to win a game of footy. Not rely on just one person. It's a CLUB. Not a INDIVIDUAL PLAYER. Just because you have all the talent in the world does NOT give you the god given right to screw your CLUB.

And add to that no player is incapable of winning a game all by his lonesome, unless said player contests the ball in the centre square himself, feeds the ball out to himself and then passes the ball lace out to himself.

And then kicks the goal himself!

He does not win a game off his own flowering boot and that is why he and his indulgent suporters need to realise that.

Well said DUC. Saying Fev wins the game off his own boot is not recognising the efforts of the half forwards, the midfielders, the ruck, the flankers, the wingers, the half backs and the backs who bust their guts at each contest to deliver the ball to him.

It is JUST this kind of "it's all about me" mentality with Fev that is stuffing the club up. And it just makes sense that it is his blinded supporters who are using this "wining the game off his own boot" excuse to justify his actions and why he should stay at the club.

Look at the bigger picture and you will see things a lot clearer and make a more informed decision. Fev ALONE will not deliver CFC a 17th premiership cup. However, if he can commit to the club, he may just be a PART of the TEAM that delivers the 17th cup.

I harken back to the good old days of the late 70's/early 80's when we didn't actually HAVE a key forward to go to and a lot of our goals were kicked by the Mosquito Fleet of quick on-ballers.
I am sure this would happen again (and would have happened in the past 5 years had Fevola been sacked prior to Pagan's tenure beginning).
Even when Sticks was strutting around kicking goals we still had a strong midfield and half-forward line (ie. other options) who were kicking goals so I don't for one believe that we need to have a key forward like Fevola (as West Coast have proved last year) in order to kick a big score. In fact, it is probaby better if we DON'T so that the game plan is not as predictable as it has been for 5 years
