IMO, the systematic development of the players we’ve got NOW is the top priority and ranks above the ‘tank’ issue.
Watching Wayne Carey on channel 9 last night mockingly state that Melbourne has a better long term list than Carlton really frustrated me because glib & uninformed views such as his affects the morale of lot of Carlton supporters who are less informed than most of us here on TC.
With thanks to the Mr. Pratt and the CFC Board we now have the offield financial status of the club in a healthy position.
This now is allowing us to put in place a modern day professional player development team.
I believe we have the basic raw structure of an elite playing list and no matter where we finish down the ladder this year we will shortly add at least one more top 5 draft talent.
With professional systematic personal development, the likes of…
Russell, Bentick, Blackwell, Carrazzo, Jackson, Walker, Murphy, Gibbs (running mechanics, disposal technique & offensive strategies)
Hartlett, Kennedy, O’hAilpin, Austin, Waite, Edwards (strength , agility, disposal technique and tactical strategies)
A.O’hAilpin, Hampson, Jacobs (Rucking contest techniques & offensive strategies)
Austin, O’hAilpin, Waite, Hartlett, Bower, Anderson, Thornton, Grigg, Raso, Benjamin (defensive teamwork strategies, link up rebounding offensive strategies)
…will all markedly improve I have no doubt.
We have absolute raw talent, all with huge upside, basically running around with not much of an idea of how and what it takes to be successfull at AFL level IMO.
We have or are about to employ a real development team.
All we need is a newly formed fresh young coaching panel that has a positive personal development philosophy that meshes together to form a collective team orientated spirit to reach the ultimate goal …the 17th.
So basically, out with Pagan immediately, bring in the new Senior Coach and his team together with the new development team and get to work on our young players ASAP.
If that brings wins in the short term so be it, if it doesn’t so be it.
