Quite an interesting read.

I'm not being critical (because how do you mention everyone?), but I was a little surprised that 1AW didn't get a mention at all from Libba.

That stood out to me as well. It's also criminal that AW isn't in the leadership group given some of the inclusions and how much the guy puts in for the team.

Well at least we can rest assured that senior members of the coaching staff are right on the money....when they mention ROSS YOUNG exactly200% more times than 1AW!!
:?

Libba take it down, fix it, re-post! And we'll all pretend we never even noticed ok?! 8)

After reading that no bloody wonder I go on TC compared to that crap.

Ross Young????

Reminds me of those letters people send at Christmas time about how flower great their year has been.

And DP's influence is having an effect.
Did Libba say "knocking on the door"

I like Libba and believe he gives 100% to the Carlton Footy Club but IMO, the following paragraph encapsulates exactly where our MC is at the moment..

Quote:
What improvements are the coaches hoping for in the remainder of the season?

Our forward structure has been quite good. However, the way our defence and midfield have combined has resulted in a lot of goals being scored against us. Obviously we take the game on a fair bit, which is conducive to getting high scores kicked against you, but that is the style of game we play. So, we just have to make sure our midfielders get back to support the defence as best they can.

Our midfielders and to a lesser extent backs, are playing a largely offensive style of football that requires hard, forward running and rapid ball movement. Our basic requirement is to get the ball inside 50 and give the forwards every opportunity.
Unfortunately, it also gives our opponents every opportunity.
You cant expect players to create, run and be attacking and then expect them to be with their opponents when the ball is turned over. :?

Its great for the MC committee to have these expectations but the human body has limitations. Especially bodies that dont get the rotations required.

I expect something a bit better than "lets hope the players can give more".
How about the coaches actually come up with a style of play that is sustainable against good opposition. A better balanced mix of offence and defence for starters would be nice but unfortunately its one extreme or the other with Carlton.

"That is the style of game we play" indicates the same ignorant inflexibility that has been there since day one.

Sticks will probably make Libba the Ruck Coach given his stature

Not entirely true.

A few blokes being smarter about when they run forward and when to drop back and take a rest/set up in case a rebound occurs is entirely different from asking them to bolt back and forth.

If the latter is their expectation, then I agree with your thoughts, but not necessarily in the case of the former.

Alas, everything is not so simple, as you enjoy belting home on every occasion. :)

In Pssst today:

5 years ago Libba anounced his retirement before The Kanagas met the Dogs. The Kangas were beaten in an emotional clash.

The Kangas were red hot favourites before the match but went down, promting coach Denis Pagan to concede afterwards he had known they were in trouble when Libba said he was retiring.

NOTHING HAS @#$%&! CHANGED

You're right.

He's still generous in his praise of players, both his own and on the opposition. Great to see he was giving Libba a great send off by suggesting that the Bulldog boys loved him so much that they'd turn the tables as a result. That's pure class.

If Libba thinks that Ross Young will be a player of the future then we seriously have some major problems within our MC
