The first thing I thought about this morning when I woke up was poor old Fev. I really want Fevola to be a part of a premiership side, he is that good a player that he deserves it.
Fev. to be the only Carlton player in the forward 40 metres zone in a game. I don't care which one. All others pushed up to a congested centre half forward/midfield and to see Fev. kick 10 goals in that match.
Go Fev.
Yep Makes great sense to go back to the game plan we have been playing for 4 years and getting consistently smashed because our oppostion double team him and we don't use the loose players as an attacking option.
Love to see us get consistently smashed by 100 points 5 or 6 times a year with this game plan. Great way to move forward to finals contention.
I have been happy with Fevola over the past 4 weeks. Doing his job. Did his job last night. One of the few. Fisher contested and didn't allow Brown to completely overwhelm him after Waite was moved down back.
Biggest problem. Our midfield is SLOW and unaccountable for pacy opposition with a willingness to run and create, and an intensity to get the flower ball.
Turnovers. flower lamentable. Carrazzo had what.. 30 touches. 3 effective ones. Foolihan continues to use his silky skills to provide the opponent with a lot of quality ball.
Was immediately worried when Whitnall went down back at the start of the game.Whitnall should NEVER go near a backline ever again. How come Pagan doesn't understand this??? IF he is injured, don't play him. If he is fit, play him out of the square with Fevalio. If he needs a break, give him one. Not saying drop him but he wasn't great tonight.
We need a stable backline who are going to be accountable and we need midfielders who are AWARE of their surroundings and willing to bust a gut to run with an opponent or get to a contest.
Oh.. and as everyone has said.. we need 2 quality ruckmen. Taylor and Campbell, whilst not quality ruckmen yet, gave an armchair ride to those blokes and they just laughed at us.
Very few blokes could hold their heads high. Fevola who kicked three from limited opportunities. Gibbs who looked slow on McGlynn but tried his arse off, Murphy, Walker and Fisher were the only blokes who deserved to wear the Navy Blue tonight.
It was insipid, lamentable, deplorable, demoralising vapid and completely anemic.
