I sat next to Hulmey at the Richmond game last year, what a champion fella he was!
im really glad i read this thread now. i was only a couple of hrs ago wondering what Hulmey is doing these days. he was my fav for a while. still have the 27 on my back, which unfortunately made me look like a bryan supporter tho i def was not, and now 27 doesn't exist.
Anyway Hoggy, can you let me know what Hulmey is doing post-Carlton? the reason im interested is bc if my memory serves me right, he had a young daughter when he was cut from the list and it would have been a little daunting to lose his income with a young child to support. i hope to hear that all is well in that respect, and im pleased to hear that he was a great guy to talk to.
nicest guys for me: kouta (just a polite gentleman and really down to earth), Ang always very friendly, parko - took my bro, sis and myself into the rooms after training after i gave him a fruitcake cooked by mum. when he went to find sticks he left us standing at the entrance and some official didn;t realise we were invited in and asked us to leave so we were devastated but parkin chased us down again and took us back in to have a chat with sticks and tour the rooms. a funny thing was that he wouldnt let my sis into the back room where most players were coz they'd just showered and were mostly naked. we were familiar faces at training back in those days (by all accounts i was the only vocal supporter there and used to scream out relentlessly to tom alvin who was my first fav player). he was probably thinking "why me??", but it was still good of parko to look after us like that. backwell - had a long kick to kick session with my bro n i at one of the family days, that was really exciting for us at that age.
btw, i occasionally see pearce at You Am I gigs. Ben harrison, colbert and frankie peckett are often there as well. all seem like good guys. and ive also seen tim rogers at kagaroos games. i like it when footy and music (my two passions) are shown to be compatible rather than one being seen as above the other which is most often promoted by narrow minded people(usually musos). rogers often makes a remark about footy while on stage.
