I had the privelege to meet Trevor Keogh and his son, as a kid, when I visited my cousin on school holidays who lived in the area around Parkmore Shopping Centre, so he was one of my favourite players who I idolised...really nice guy, who seemed really tall to me as a kid...and wasn't he Mr consistent on the field!

Well said and good choice Keogh.

Of all the non finals games, I agree, it is one of the best games I've ever seen. In fact I have a copy of it, and it is the one game I would pull out before any finals game when visitors need a fix of AFL.

1995 Home & Away win against Geelong. All the guns on both sides were on fire that day, and it was a privilege to be in the crowd.

1995 Round 21 game against WCE. Another game where all the stars shone.

1993 Round 3 game against Hawthorn. Watching Kernahan go back and kick the winning goal without thinking after the events of the previous week showed character.

2008 GF - Not sure what stands out the most but certainly Fev's 7 goals straight, Walker's run along the boundary bouncing 6 times and then slotting it from the impossible angle with a wrong foot banana, and Murph's smother, one handed pickup, shrug off of the tackle and calmly passing to JFK alone in the goal square for the 10th goal of the 2nd quarter were highlights.

This is'nt a favourite game of mine, just one that has stuck in my head for years and years.

Problem is i remember very little of it.

Was against Nth Melbourne circa '88 '89 (could be wrong) at Princes Park.
We were down by about 16 odd points with like 3 mins left. We left the Social club as we thought it was game over and by the time it took to walk from our seats to gate 1 we had slammed on 3 goals to win by a few points

Gleeson kicked the winner with seconds left before siren.

Does anyone recall this game??? Its been doing my head in for all these years.

Snickers I recall this game perfectly, 34 minute mark, bear roved the ball perfectly off the pack to slam it through from close range, crowd goes crazy siren goes and North are left complaining about the time keeper. was definately in 1989 - I sat behind the goals where the winner was kicked.

Nah that game was definitely 1988. I was 8 years old at the time and had kicked up a bit of a stink about Carlton 'losing' and was sitting on the couch all down about it when my brother raced in saying that we'd won. I had fallen for a few tricks in my time but I wasn't going to fall for this one so I told him to go and get stuffed. He insisted I turn on the radio and check so I did and then did a little dance and ran down to the park with my footy to kick around.

Anyway this is a great thread guys, many of the games you've brought up would go close to making my top 3, but to make it hard for myself I'll pick three games no one else has mentioned, hardly the three most famous in Carlton's history but special for me:

1) 1996 vs Geelong, rd 22 at KP. 1996 had been a frustrating season in many ways, and would definitely end that way in the finals, but this game was quite special. My brother and I did the trip down to Geelong and stood in the outer and just had the most fantastic day. We were expected to lose this game but we belted them in the end, I think Murphy got 5 goals that day. Boy was it a good feeling driving home after that game

2) 1993 vs WCE, Carlton win by 1 point. Another memorable Subi game, whilst I didn't go to this one I almost died watching it on telly. The ball unluckily came off Sexton's boot and went out on the full in the forward pocket with 6 seconds left. Mainwaring, in the 'right' pocket for a left footer, ran around and snapped.....and hit the post. Unbelievable. Siren goes a second later and the Blues win by 1 point.

3) Waverley 1990, we beat the reigning premiers Hawthorn by 11 goals and I play in the little league at half time (for Hawthorn incidentally). Was a very exciting day all round, we absolutely ran rings around the Hawks that day.

By the way, a few people mentioned that game against Richmond in 2000 when we thrashed them to keep them out of the finals, but remember shattering their finals chances in 1994 as well, the week after the eagles thrashing? It was at PP and we beat them by 113 points, with mad dog kicking a lazy 7...the ground was absolutely packed to the rafters that day.

Another special game watching on tv was beating the crows at footy park in 98 by 4 points. I had gone through a pretty tough patch personally and it was just what I needed at the time.

1. Has to be '99 Prelim v. Essendon*

2. '87 Second Semi Final v. Hawthorn at (VFL) Park - we were 33 pts down when Brereton kicked a goal at 5min mark of 3rd quarter. Hawthorn supporter friend of mone sitting next me turned and said "Goodnigh Irene". Bradley starred in the last quarter. This was the game that won us the flag that year

3. '95 v West Coast at Subi - Started with Spalding's bump on McKenna

Special mention:

1982 Qualifying Final v. Hawthorn - Wayne Harmes went beserk in the 3rd quarter kicking 4 goals, gees he was a good player when he was on

1986 I think around Rd 3 or 4 v. Fitzroy first PP game for the 4 big name recruits, Bradley absolutely blitzed.

Yes!

It's probably my earliest memory of a game apart from the 87 grnd final.

I remember having my little transister radio and listening to the game in the dunny  I remember being about 3-4 goals down and kicking a goal a minute for the last 3-4 minutes.

And Gleeson did kick the winner as i remember it too.

The quater went for about 34 minutes, it was the first game to amaze me i believe..

Top 3 would be

1) 99 Prelim

2) 1 point win over eagles late in 95 with the commentator making that excited grumble when Mckenna missed the ball and ricey ran into the open goal

3) Centenary match against the pies..

Apart from the Grand Finals we've won the most memorable games I can recall are:

1987 - (Round 22) Carlton v North Melbourne at Waverley
Kernahan marking and kicking a goal after the siren from an accute angle to win the game and put us on top of the ladder. We had the week's break and went on to win a flag. Now that's a captain.

1991 - (Round 13) Carlton v West Coast at Princes Park
Simon Minton-Connell marks on the boundary about 50M out from goal with seconds remaining. Kicks the increadible goal to end the Coasters 12 game winning streak. The Heatley stand almost collapsed from the noise.

1999 - (Prelim.Final) Carlton v Essendon* at the MCG
We all know what happened that day. We didn't win the flag but we stopped them which was just as satisfying.

Can't rememberthe dates, just the games.
Carl v Geelong at Geelong 1963. My first ever VFL game live, thanks to a teacher at my school, St Pat's Ballarat, who took a few of us down in the school bus. Big John was playing and that was all I wanted to see. Can't remember if we won or lost but it started a lifelong love of footy and the Blues. I was 12.

Carl v Collingwood Princes park. Wayne Harmes first season I think. Massive brawl in front of the old press box with Harmsey in the midst. Phil Carmen too. I was there with my dad and an Army mate (rugby player, Carlton supporter). My dad told some yobbo in front of us to stop swearing because there was a lady and her little kid next to us. The yobbo turned around to say something to my dad but when he saw my mate (6 foot 7 and 20 odd stone) he just shut up for the rest of the day. We won.

The Robbie Muir game, Princes Park. We won but it will go down in history for other reasons. Mad dog indeed.
