Yeah they rip you off the rest of the time. It also closes you into some of their paid download services for some items as well.
Yeah, well there you go....someone always has to pay....and it's always the end user, by smoke and mirrors. Australian Telco/ Media/ Government has such control over us and our pockets.
It's the supporters/ subscribers/ members that really pay dearly to make this game [AFL] what it is; a billion dollar industry....they bring the sponsors and media rights into their radar, yet someway or another after all is paid and done, it's always the supporters/ subscribers/ members that get asked for another handout.
The AFL may as well be subscribing cigarettes to us; we are addicted to our club in this great game, and then they up the taxes, and we're still addicted. They don't slow down this bottomless pit of B Grade entertainment; they just bend us over and keep giving it to us in such unpleasant ways
Everything is always going up; first it's the ticket prices, then food, then beer, then memeberships, then merchandise, then media, then value adds and then start over again, first it's the tickets, then membership....fully well knowing about our addicted state we're in, in the game we own

.....now it's the information about my club they want me to pay for via website access when I'm already paying for access subscription and the rest of the AFL stuff (mentioned above...and sadly, and painfully, it's (maybe just) B Grade.
It's not only about value for money, its more than that, it's about what we know the rest of the world is paying for access to their sport. So this is what they call the egalitarian game; AFL. Bullshit, it aint a commission, it's a corporation running a monopoly.
It all sucks and we (if we allow them) are the suckers.
Stuff Telstra and AFL propaganda I say.
Thank god for Talking Carlton, and CFC, otherwise I'd be likely to go cold turkey and pick another sport / addiction that treats me with more respect.
