get your hand off it.
What? Your suggesting that he'd be a walk up start in teams like West Coast & Freo? Or Sydney? Or the Bulldogs? Or Adelaide? If that's the case then perhaps i should keep my hand on it!
Maybe in teams like Essendon* or another club in a similar position to us.
Look. i'm not trying to bagg Scotland here. I thought he was easilly the most consitant player last year and if he continues that consistancy this year then he will be very important to us.
All i said was i don't think he's a gun!
You said Scotland would have trouble avoiding the bench or 2nds in most of the other clubs out there. Based on his form last year he'd start for any team in the comp without a problem. Name a team with a strong midfield and I'll find a spot for Scotland in there.
I thought i did just that!
West Coast, Freo, Bulldogs........................
As good a year as Scotland had in 06', and he did indeed have a good year so no arguments from me there, i just couldn't see him starting in a stronger side.
But i'll say it again:- I love Scotlands Consistancy and really hope it continues in 2007.
for the doggies I 'd have him ahead of: Ray, McMahon, Boyd, Montgomery, Power and maybe Eagleton - all are senior 22 midfielders and really if I was going for consistency I'd select him over Cooney and Griffen ( I think Cooney and Griff are far more talented players but they're young and still inconsistent) On the list of mids for the Dogs I'd have him about equal with Daniel Cross; Cross being better in close but not so good by foot. I have him behind West, Giansiracusa and Gilbee, all of whom are great players.
for West Coast I'd rank him equal with Michael Braun and better than Chad Fletcher (based on his last 2 years) and I think he'd eclipse Beau Waters easily on HBF. The only argument I can see against Scotland fitting into the WCE 22 would be Matt Priddis, a guy of similar talent, attributes and body size who has not cemented his place in the 22 yet, I suspect because he's a pure midfielder.
for Freo: Sean McManus, Troy Cook, Des Headland, Mathew Carr and Schammer and Haselby are both coming off poor seasons but their best is better than Scotland. Oh and they recruited Soloman
