Although between Barry Mitchell and Grant Thomas, it would be interesting to see who could knife the other first.... Carlton's own Desperate Housewives.
I'm not happy with this post!
Barry Mitchell IS NOT a back-stabber. I think even Pagan knows that! Barry Mitchell has been made out to be the bad guy in this situation!
Then Barry has absolutely nothing to worry about. His job is secure in 2007.
No, i don't think it is....................and there in lies the problem.
Every story needs a bad guy. Sadly, the writers of this story have put that title onto Barry.
Look, i've been attacked for saying this before but i honestly do not believe that Pagan and Mitchell see eye-to-eye in terms of 'coaching', and that's the key reason as to why i believe people are saying that it'll be either one or the other next year.
Did Mitchell stab Pagan in the back to get his job? No. God no! Micthell was probably just asked if he would be interested in the role and said 'Yes'. What else is supposed to say? NO?
But things are obviously not working with the two of them in the coaching staff together. And sadly, i think Mitchell will be the one to go.
I'm on Mitchells side. I think he would make a great coach and i LOVE going out into the 'Bullants' huddle and listening to him talk to the boys.
It hasn't happened to many times this season because we've dominated the comp so much, but when that 'extra' effort has to be added or we need to 'lift' just that little bit more or just 'step-up-' a gear or two............Mitchell knows how to get the boys to do it.
Sentanta is a classic example of how good Mitchell is with these kids.
Ditto Kennedy (I believe Kennedy looks more 'at-ease' and 'comfortable' playing in the Bullants than what he did playing with Carlton, although he did lack game-time!!!!).
But on the other hand, i can't go out into the Carlton huddle at qtr time breaks to listen to what Pagan is saying. All i've got to go off is that less-than-impressive speech he gave at the 'Farewell to Princess Park' game before the boys ran out.............and that's not enough to judge.
Hopefully................................................
Pagan sees that things need (and MUST) change for Carlton to go forward. He's 'out-dated' game plan needs addressing, new & fresh ideas must be taken on board and perhaps some assistance is required in regards to 'bonding' & 'forming' a better relationship with the players!
It's doubtfull.........................but i'm hoping Pagan can see Mitchell not as an Enemy, but as a handy assistant that can bring some ease and (more importantly) some sucesess into his final years of coaching.
