I saw the same thing BW and I am totally gobsmacked that he had 1 clanger next to his name.

When he passes the ball to a player who clearly has no chance of getting rid of it, is that a clanger or a cop out?

Where is the cop out column kept because he would be leading the competition.

Clanger means it was passed directly to the opposition.

Appreciate that mate............but your looking too much at the numbers!

McGrath can rack up 40 possesions, but what does he do with them? How much damage does he cause with them? Not much!

Setanta only played 3/4 of footy and he impressed me more than McGrath!

The only stats that i care about are the following................

Hard Ball Gets
Loose Ball Gets
Handball's Recieved
& Spoils.

But None of those get listed on any site or newspaper!

Yes they do in the Footy record. Not sure about spoils but they list all those stats. Since you're so interested I'll give you the leaders:

Hard Ball Gets - Houla

Loose Ball Gets - Stevens

Handball's Recieved- Scotland

(Might be about 2 weeks behind but check it out if you're at the game tomorrow)

Usually i'm not happy with the MC & their weekly selections but this week i was very impressed.

Are you serious?? There is one bloke brought into the side whose desperation and hunger leaves a lot to be desired. At the very least we would get that from young Jordon Russell. Shite selections - our MC lacks guts.

Russell has spent the week on a drip according to reports, explains why he isnt coming straight back into the team. If i were Mojo or Casses i'd say - make sure you get the full story before you post.... and then finish it with a :garthp:

Knackers,

Russell is selected for the Bullants.
Then again you rate Hulme as a player...pretty much sums up your knowledge of footy

Lets see if he plays the whole game

I reckon sometimes it takes more guts to leave a player out than bow to public pressure to "play the kids". Pagan knows more than us about the ins and outs of the list and the players mental and physical being.

If Russell aint right, dont play him. Won't hurt him to have a week in the magoos to increase his hunger.

Would say McGrath has earnt his spot the past two weeks. IMO has played very well. The ultimate team player and disposal is not as bad as most make it out to be.

Sporn on the other hand, showed glimpes when young like some of our current stock, but due to injury just never had/took his chances or improved enough to be a regular. Should not get another gig in the seniors this season, who cares if he racks up 30 possies in the Bullants, even French and Deluca can do that.

Would NOT have thought Houla would be leading the Hard Ball Gets!

The other two i'm not surprised over. Although the Scotland one is interesting.

Scotland is racking up the possesions just as much as Houla & McGrath. But it would be safe to say that Scotland would be in the top 3 on our B&F leaderboard whilst McGrath would be lucky to be in the top 10 with Houla JUST in front.

Why is that?

Because Scotland has been more damging with the possesions he gets & more importantly, directs traffic to better positions.

A clear example of this was something i just watched. It was the replay of the rnd 7 match Vs Essendon*.

McGrath has the ball on the wing, Fevola (who was on FIRE) was one-out against a mis-matched Joel Renolds in the goal square. All he had to do was kick it there and Fev had a 90% chance of taking a mark Right in-front of goal.
Instead, he wasted time and was forced to rush a grubber of a kick which Lappin struggled to mark (didn't go the required 15mts anyway), which in turn resulted in a turn-over to Essendon*...........which in turn resulted in a Goal!

Houla does this often too (Although he did have good game in that match i was just talking about so it kinda contradicts my point!).

But with Houla its different, i just can't stand him chickening out of a contest which i see him do all the time.

Now..................if we can somehow manage to MERGE Houlihan & McGrath!!!!!!!

Unfortunately both McGrath and Carrazzo seem to struggle in front of goal but can get a lot of possession in defence or around the ground. I think they are both confidence players and if the first one goes straight then they are in for a good day. Could kick 4 or 5 straight or miss them all. I think in the back pocket McGrath is more creative than Carrazzo (maybe it 's acceleration) and perhaps a little better at reading the play whereas Carrazzo appears to be a lot stronger a better mark and contested ball winner.

Mix them both together and we would have a good back pocket who could move into the midfield, play on ball and go forward to become a marking option. IMO McGrath is the better back pocket and while he has some pace problems Carrazzo is very handy as the second rotation in the midfield when the pace has slowed.

Scotland Houlihan Lappin all have been used across half back to bring the ball out and set up play. Deliver the ball well and normally choose the right option. Trouble is we also need them up the other end receiving the ball and shooting on goal. Better than turning it over by bad kicking from half back and having the opposition have an easy shot at goal.
