its got nothing to do with European Football teams, its done the world over, and it is done as a marketing tool as much as any.

some teams in the EPL have 3 or four strips depending on what the situation is.

I tell ya, this "traditional reasons" shite gives me the shits. It used when and where people want it to be.

Where were all of you when we were asked to play our games at TD and not at our "traditional" home ground?

Becuase, we where told by all and sudrie that the club "needs to get with the times" and move on ... well ... you cant have one thing, then cry poor for another.

Lets be proactive, like so many of you scream for us to be and introduce something that will benefit the club immensly.

This is one of the very few things the club has at is disposal to change and change constantly to help generate a new source of income, yet, these same people that want all this "proactive culture and change" are the ones crying loudest about tradition.

When will you learn, there very little tradition in this game anymore.

Lets be a step ahead of the pack for once and be pro-active with it all.

Away Strips - that are worn for every away game and change them every couple of years is a win win for me.

look, i just think, this is one area where the club can get some income from what was otherwise a non-existant market, and if they change the away strip every couple of years its a continous cash flow for the club.

i just cant see any logical reason for not going down this path, especially in this era when we are pleading for the club and our board to be imaginative and pro-active and lead the pack :wink:

rather than to come in later on following the pack

lets be ahead of the competition like we once were

I'm all for an alternate strip & not just for the games where we clash. I'd be happy to see the alternate strip be used for evey away game.............unless it clashes

Andy Maher has just revealed that they have shown off their proposed clash strip to some journalists over lunch. White, blue emblem, blue stripe under each armpit. Also very complementary about Smorgon's openness during lunch.

Apparently the club is presenting to the AFL the proposed strip which will be White with a navy strip (down th sides? I missed that bit) with the navy emblem.

Reported on SEN after a lunch with the CEO and journalists at Carlton today.

Andrew Maher was at the Carlton lunch and they showed the new clash jumper he said it was white with blue logo and a blue strip under the arm pit.

Interesting that they're happy to go with a navy CFC emblem. Where did that info about the constitution declaring white come from???

I can't say that I'm happy about this - this represented a perfect opportunity to add another revenue stream and go for something slightly daring. I thought SILVER with blue logo was a shoe in. Would have held a press conference - put Kouta, Stevo, Fev and Murph in the jumper...and when the question is asked - why did Carlton opt for silver?

Simple - we have enough silverware in the cupboard - we're the most successful side in Victoria - we've won the most Grand Fnials than any other club - and the group of youngsters we have coming through the club will be part of some more silverware to add to the trophy cabinet.

Not good enough Blues...get into the 21st century. Ask freo how well their 'white' jumper has sold with the Y generation...not great - I can tell you now.
