Next question about the elections…

When are they?

And you need to be a 2006 "registered" member right?

Here's a link to the article Speedy mentions:
http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 62,00.html

The article also states the AGM is March 27. What sort of platform are the candidates given to put their credentials forward to the voting members?

Is it really a case of the members having to look for the information, or will there be mailouts? Doesn't leave much time!

Speedy, you might be more qualified to give us a run down on him

Look the great thing is people are putting up their hands to come to the clubs aid at a time we need fresh blood.

Good thing i reckon.

We have political elections each 3 or so years for fresh blood...... why not fresh blood footy club board?

VERY CAPABLE!!!

Yull get more on him soon.

Professional headhunter starting company from scratch.. did the army/ navy/ air force ads ...
from what i understand.
employs Geoff Southby has dine a heap of work for the club behind the scenes.

Speedy can tell us more

The other guy is Hart (Greg i think?) backed by the powerful Kerr family Eliot alligned.. but the Kerrs are a very generous bunch of supporters and vey well entrenched in the Carlton money people... their purse strings had been closed since Elliott.

No Mrs Caz - he is not one of those w#$%êr marketing types. A bit about him (from his PR release):

Member since the age of 5 - did the standing on beer cans thing in the outer for most of his junior days.

Been a coterie member and sponsor for the past 9 or so years.
When the Collins board came in was approached to devise a fundraising venture. Went back to the board with the Carlton Heroes project - which turned out to be the most successful fundraiser in the history of the AFL / VFL. (whilst expunging that mans name from our ground)

Last year again approached the board with the idea of creating the CFC Foundation. Again, the board approved and he has been working on the board sub-committee putting this together. To be launched March 23. Greg's recommendation also involved the resurrection of the Carlton Hall of Fame, which had laid dormant since before Collins came in.

On Greg's recommendation, this also involves allowing the members of the foundation to vote on admitting a hall of famer. The first club to involve members in this process. Appointed an honorary Patron of the CFC Foundation.

He was also behind some of the events for the last game celebrations - especially the 10 greatest moments competition which was his idea - and he sat in on the selection panel.

Built a national and international recruitment and labour hire business from scratch employing over 1,500 people. Married with one daughter.

Up until now has kept a very low profile both around the club and in the business world, but believes for the good of the club he stand up as a future leader.

Yep, many thanks Synbad & Speedy.
This is an extremely important upcoming election. The more information on the candidates the better. The members must elect the right people for the job. No room for error this time.

The Blueseum/Hall of Fame simply has to get some serious legs at club level IMO. Okay we may not have the money to fund something appropriate right now, but at least start making some plans and commitment to the idea. We have a great history, the club should build on and celebrate that fact.

He may be all of those things but my mail is that he has been given specific directions from above that he is not to be involved with the CFC at board level.

Just found this on his company web site:

Greg Lee
Managing Director and Founder

Greg commenced his business career in the Marketing Department of Unilever in Melbourne. He followed this with a number of senior roles in major advertising agencies controlling the advertising for national branded goods companies, and rising to the role of General Manager at the age of 28. The final year in Greg’s advertising career saw him work almost exclusively on recruitment campaigns for the RAAF. It was this experience that saw Greg decide to shift career focus from advertising to recruitment and HR. Greg founded Octopus Staffing and Recruitment on January 1, 1994 under the name of United Recruitment.
Greg holds a B.Sc. from Monash University, is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a member of the Australian Institute of Human Resources and a past committee member of the Victorian RCSA, MIMA, and Tourism Training Victoria. Greg also sits on the council of the William Angliss Institute of TAFE.

And why would he?

As a Shareholder i want him to cement his position at the Bank.his remuneration and incentive scheme would suggest that he has more than enough on his plate.

I personally find it staggering the naievity that exists out there re people in Senior Executive positions or wealthy Supporters. The fact is that whilst they have CFC supporter on their C.V. it is fanciful to suggest that they will bail out the Club or throw a bucket-load of cash our way.

The last few years has shown how deluded this view is!

At the end of the day the grass root supporter has to lead from the front!

The NAB bloke doesnt have the time for Carlton right now.. and his priorities lie elsewhere as dom7 rightly pointed out.

On donations... we have had them given to us in the past.. but rich men dont like giving money to things they cant benefit from.

If the salary cap was dismembered and we can just go out there and buy money some would then be inclined to give.

But noone will give if all were going to do with it is stick it in the bank to pay debt.

I know of a few coteries who are careful about what gets given to the club because it doesnt become an asset for the club .. if its money it will just find its way towards the debt.

There is a fine line between paying debt off and not losing the psyche of what a footy club is...in my opinion.

Unfortunately the board is out of whack with too many money people and not alot of ideas people...

Agree with Dom...the white knight approach isnt the way to go..you need the club supporting itself in a sustained long term way and that starts with members however I feel that TV rights will become the main source of income for clubs in years to come and the clubs will become a prisoner to the greedy AFL as the AFL look to increase the TV rights deals and make it a game for the armchair supporter who buys the TV advertisers products rather than the member who views the game live....look for Mark Nicholas spruking 800 framed Marc Murphy signed jumpers to be bought on the ninesmsn website.....and you can buy a framed print of the 2015 West Sydney Blues football team also signed by Marc Murphy.....
