Ok Cazzeman
Here is something that is repetitive but not repetitive
I have supported the club for 56 years from the age of 7
And deep down I love club
That love has truly been tested like any love of any kind by the dysfunctional nature off the field
For me this reached a crescendo with the Elijah Hollands fiasco
I’ll repeat myself again
The club was culpable to him playing and I hated the people that caused that
They are cauliflower of the highest order whoever they are
And as usual nobody put their hand up and said “ we [REDACTED] up”
I can’t support any other club but boy I came close
I have only met fellow TCs once
At a barbecue ironically on the ground at Princes Park organised by Jarusa. Remember him
Witnessed Tommi lighting a scuby on the centre wicket area.
I also met a poster called Deano Supremo
He flew done from Sydney for it
Great guy
Smart funny loved the club and wore his heart on his sleeve
He said something that struck a massive chord with me which sums up why we are passionate about the teams we support
“ Whatever changes in your life you still love your club”
Well said Deano
Do I feel torn by how [REDACTED] this club has been run in the last 25 years
@#$%&! I do
And as someone said
“ It can’t be that hard “
My negativity is based on the passion I have for this club
A club that has been [REDACTED] up by people who are ruled by power and money
As Deano inferred
The one constant in life is change
It’s time Carlton changed
I hope it’s happening
Interesting post keogh.
I wish I did come down for that gathering.
Deano Supremo was one of my faves.
Never forget how much his post resonated with me.
The post he called "The one constant".
I also get your frustration too.
I get the passion for the club, but I have to say, and I'm keogh's age, still partying, still youthful, still loving life, and just as passionate as the next fella, but some people forget that its just a game, and there's a lot of volunteers and patrons of the club who have been good and bad for the club at different times, but their passion for success isn't less than ours. Mistakes happen. We need to learn and move on. In fighting isn't healthy.
BV's posts in my early days on TC still resonate with me too. Like a few of us, passionate supporters, he put his hand in his pocket for the club, and proved his loyalt on training nights and at games, knowing we were going to be cellar dwellers post penalties of 2022, for more than a year or two. We really hit rock bottom. Any criticism of Kernahan, Pratts, Smorgons, Mathiesons, Halls is really disrespectful imo, because Collins who was batting for the AFL and Carlton was handing over the keys. Hopefully, one day, the truth comes out about Demetriou and Evans' strategy towards our club and the game at large, to stroke their egos and impose their vindictiveness. The abovementioned names didn't need the AFL's money; remember that. Carlton was and is more than a play thing. The club serves a purpose far beyond a 'play thing', for all of us.
Some people can't control their emotions, and those emotions do not reflect their passion for the club well, moreso imo displays their desire to find someone to blame for our demise. I think it makes them feel better. It doesn't get us closer to the truth of the past, nor our current situation.
I can't help feel we are in a great place now. President, CEO, Football Manager, Coach, Board, Finances, Draft prospects, List, Salary Cap space and positioning before the compromised Draft all seem strong to me. First time, I feel we have lliined up the ducks, with the best in business to select a new List Manager and a new Coach
Carpe Diem Carlton.
