Reckon we are a big show . Hell , Freo were damn lucky to beat the Pies . If we can give the Pies a shake we can give Freo a shake . We do well out West and our supporters over there always stick by us . Come on Blues , get in there .
I'm with you Mickstar.
I can see our holes in our team and list, and have discussed them ain depth.
What about what we do have going for us? We showed that last night and previous week.
Last night the only thing between winning and losing was one freak Daicos.
Shoulda Coulda woulda......
We could, should and would vs Freo IF..........and we can make amends.
WE played one short last night, so 23 v 23 looks to be a fairer battle than last night.
Go Blues
Onya " Chesty Bondi ". As 'ol mate Surreyblue said I mean it . We definitely can win this . And as you quite rightly point out Bondi its not all doom and gloom and we are playing better football than the results indicate .
P S ...........
what are your thoughts on the Elijah bizzo Bondi ? wouldn't be surprised if the AFL don't put there nose into it myself .
Should be its own thread, or what do you think thread.
Simply, the Elijah situation dates back to preseason last year, and it has been nothing short of a fluid situation; Thursday included.
I would ask if anyone believes Carlton have handled the Elijah situation well, in the last year? I say more than well, they have set new standards of care. Carlton have ben lenient and did everything they could for Elijah to return to full health.
Some of the comments I'm hearing, or should I say rumours, suggest players knew something is wrong with Elijah. I can't believe that something highly unusual was taking place. Leader, and flat mate/ carer, would have notived. His brother, Ollie, who has known him since birth, would have known.
The reason we all paid any attention to Elijah was his disposal count, and the spotlight and inuendo starts from that. It blew out to become a mega drama. Some on this site, podcasts, and media speculated it was obvious substances were abused. Goes to show, the issue of mental health, and decline is an area society, and the professionals in this field still dont have a grasp on this fluid situation. Who knows? No one knows? Whose guilty? Of what? Not giving a guy a chance to find the footy and redeem himself?
I have spoken about this very sad situation with non footy people, and like me not only do they find the situation sad, we all agree male mental health needs more focus and understanding, and the public have politized the problem, rather than showing empathy and a focus on helping. Fk ther headlines. They dont help, Elijah, footballers, males, or the fiocus on mental health.
If we want to blame the someone, it would have to be the experts, but even they struggle to successfully diagnose. Then, Carlton are innocent. Voss is innocent. Players are innocent. The cpde is innocent. And Mental Health needs more focus than looking for scapegoats.
Really saddened by this. I heard from someone yesterday, someone very very close to elijah said, he was saddened by the whole thing and Elijah may have played his last game of AFL footy. Let that sink in. This is not about Carlton, its about Elijah and how he feel so quickly during a game, with so much support around him.
Think of the victims of mental issues. Think of those without any support around them, not speaking a word of their problem to anyone, not able to ask for help, and left to deal with their personal hell by their own means.. Footy cubs are great pillars of support, and I would go as far as suggesting the football club environment has saved Elijah from something worse, rather than questioning the duty of care the whole Footy club offerred for Elijah.
The club didn't abandon Elijah on a scrap heap. The club looked for a new home for him. There were no takers. WE gave him something to live for, and he seemed to have cleaned up his act and found a new sense of purpose. He went to Vossy after the game, and felt he had let down Vossy, not the other way around.
A bit of a long response. But theres a weight I have lifted Mickstar. Its a hard one for me, and harder for Elijah. Its always good to have a sounding board, isnt it. Wish that was the case for everyone.
Get well Elijah.
You make way too much sense bondi.
