And we're now also very much like St Kilda fans of the 80s too!
If we were down in the 80s, we'd still be pretty confident that we'd come out and blitz the Premiership quarter and all would be well.
Ahead at 3/4 time, Saints fans would be heads down, hiding behind their trembling fingers just waiting to lose. Which they did.
That is now us.

As Wow highlighted, it is more than Voss. Although, it is clear Voss can't fix it. It is coaching, recruiting, development, culture, leadership... hero worship.
It goes back years, with possibly only Ratten able to get some form of positive, effective game plan together since Pagan took over and was reamed by the AFL establishment.
(And while I'm there, I also feel like Wayne Brittain was hard done by the injuries he copped at the time.)

I do not buy that almost all our players are completely rubbish, even though I can see our skills are terrible at the moment. I would bet that under a different system, game plan, culture, they would mostly be fine. I can also see great players at other teams who would not have been granted the runway they required to reach the heights they have if they were at Carlton.
And while our drafting/recruiting has been pretty ordinary, there are many Premiership teams who had multiple and very notable draft fails. Including Hawthorn (the era of the Beaus), Melbourne (Scully/Trengove), and Richmond.

I do believe we have the right people steering the ship for the moment we are in: Wright and Davies. Cool heads who I really hope can sort out a way forward without overreacting.
This time 2 years ago, the media had written off not only Fagan but were also forecasting the closing of the Brisbane window.
It was widely thought that Sam Mitchell had cut too deep at Hawthorn and Cornes famously couldn't identify any heroes for their fans to get behind, apart from Sicily.

We need to find a coach who is strong but thinks independently. Who can work his way through whatever presents itself with our list, with the rules, with the way the game is going.
I am really hoping that Wright and Davies can find this person.

i don't have any idea why. it's completely illogical if i think about it.

but i have perfect faith that GW is the guy who's gonna do it for us. a vast list makeover geared towards flexibility and the modern game combined with modern coaching and player management like we see with fagan, fly and mitchell.

Only have to look at Melbourne today to see that coaches make a difference.

Just rip the bandaid off. Please.

He will coach out the season.

We will finish bottom 4, which almost guarantees we get Walker.

No point getting a sugar hit from a new coach and finishing mid-table.

Granted, I'm a moron, so I'm almost certainly wrong, but I reckon that's what senior management are banking on.

I’m worried about the effects on the youth for every additional day he hangs around.

Voss needed to win games in the first month. We now have little wins available as we start to play finals teams.
The season has gone, as some expected and even worse at this point, since we announced he is coaching this year.
Hopefully we don’t lose anymore long term talent or destroy any kids over the next few months.

It’s never as good as it seems or as bad as it seems. For us it’s worse. Always worse.

Furthermore, this is the hand we dealt ourselves.

Hope Priestley, Wright and Davies know what they’re doing. Can’t say I have any faith that they do right now.

and recently we thought the same for hawks, cats, even power we thought were spoon favourites and they go and finish top 4.

coaching and belief make a huge huge difference.

agreed. forget tanking with voss, while we set back our mentality and culture and potentially break some players.

kruezer, gibbs, murphy prove tanking does not work. we will get walker regardless of where we finish. learn from our past mistakes - play our guts out with a more modern gameplan and structure, and the rest will take care of itself.

Yeah , banking on early draft picks has been a disaster for us . Complete fool's gold .

you'd never see swans, cats or hawks tank. and there is a big reason. the gains (draft) aren't worth setting your club's culture back for.

right now is the time to draw a line in the sand and not roll over, find some mongrel and will. rather than roll over and place all our faith in a kid who's never kicked a ball in the afl as our saviour (or messiah)

that saying. you never really find out what you're made of, until the chips are really down. lets see who on this list is gonna fight.

based on the last two games 4th quarters, i see that list being very thin:

the hollands brothers
florent
walsh

were the only guys i saw keep running, tackling, putting their body in the place of harm.

everyone else gave up, capitulated or decided they're conditional and frontrunners only.

He's too honest and accountable.
He should start sooking about wildcard round or father sons, NGA's etc. Use any deflection possible like the shitbag Scott brothers.
What's worst, the cheerleading @#$%&! wits in the media swallow it up.

IMO, if you don’t sook in public and get the media talking for you, then behind closed doors gets you no where.
Proven time and time again. As soon as Hardwick, Scott, Lyon, etc. make a statement in public, the rules are changed. Just insane but that is the inbred AFL world we are a part of. That one handed sling tackle change still has me miffed…….imbeciles, wait until someone gets hurt!
