i think it's time. it's beyond time. since midway 2024, we knew he wasn't it. doesn't have it.
needs to hit up the public speaking circuit. that's his gift, post playing.
You mean around the time we were 2nd on the ladder, had just dry humped the Cats and had put 8 goals past GWS in the first quarter? Was it then that you figured out Voss wasn't the man? Or did you wait for the Dimma's Whinge (sounds like dimmer switch, heh) and for the AFL to change the rules to decide he couldn't coach?
that was 2023 that we looked on top of the world. and again, i sound like a broken record. that was never by design, but due to injuries. most of the 9 game win streak was without a ruck. we played fast, play on at all costs chaos ball. we beat pies at their own game and torched the cats.
then we got tdk back and looked good, still, but not the same. then i think it was against the crows or gws, we got pittonet back and voss rushed him straight into the team at the expense of a runner. and we laid a giant egg.
2023 finals were magical, bcos we played with heart and belief, but we were also outplayed. the 2 lumbering rucks at the cost of a runner took the fast, play on chaos ball and swapped it for the long bombs down the flanks to contest. tedium enused and it hasn't stopped since 2024.
Mate, I don't know why you ever get into arguments around facts & figures because you always get them wrong
https://afltables.com/afl/seas/2024.htmlCheck it out -
Round 16, 2024 - we pump the Cats by 63 points
Round 17, 2024 - we beat Richmond to go six points clear in 2nd place.
Round 18, we go to Western Sydney and lead the Giants 8.4 to 3.1 at quarter time. Would've been 2.1 for them but Weiters played an arrogant no-look lateral pass into the corridor with seconds left that gave them a goal and probably a bit of wounded pride.
From there: 14 goals conceded in two quarters, 2W 6L to close the h/a season, scraping into 8th and humiliated in the EF.
I don't remember when Dimma's whinge was exactly, nor when the AFL acted on it, but it definitely targeted our strengths.
it's hardly an argument. i thought the cats game was 2023. sorry for the slip up, i guess.
2024 wasn't a good season imo, outside of the cats game and lions round 1.
lots of narrow wins, we couldn't put our foot on any team's throat and kill them off. (except the cats, which was right after our bye, and right before their bye.) lots of us not being able to stop momentum. lots of cracks appearing.
... after the richmond game you speak of, the only teams we beat were north and weagles and from 2nd on the ladder, we limped into the finals and embarrassed ourselves in brisbane. what was it, they'd kick the first 10 goals of the game before we even scored? could have easily have fired voss after that season, there was enough evidence to suggest we were miles behind it.
2023 was the golden season.
