it's puzzling behaviour to mindlessly defend a coach who's barely won a game in 12 months, and taken us from (supposed) gf contender, top 4 locks to bottom four in the space of 12 months with essentially the same list which was sitting 2nd on the ladder just 12 months ago to the day.
whats really outrageous is most of the same people defending voss, were the prime movers with the whole notion this list is ready and we will finish top 4 and make a premiership run this season - wehre reality is we don't even make the 8. heads have to, and they will roll. and i'm here for it.
the way voss wants to play, is not conducive to winning in 2025. look at the times when our list has been healthy, who he selects.
pittonet and tdk, with harry and charlie up front, and we slow play the flanks from contest to contest where we kick to packs - with absolutely zero crumbing forward presence in the team. it defies any reasonable logic. it's been happening for 3 years and it needs to stop.
off with Voss' head, bring in the next. let wright have at it, since that's what we're paying him for. build our list around the next coach using our wealth of tradeable assets.
everyone can get used to each other in 2026 in what will be a teething period, and then lets go full tilt for 17 in 2027.
Firstly you are totally avoiding the issue of depth and injuries over the past 2 years.
If we had a 100% fit team we would be in the 8.
If we had of taken Houston and Newman got injured that would've have helped also.
The rest of the football community, have all pointed to us having a slow non-dynamic midfield, missing a HB with speed and a dynamic small forward.
I personally have been criticising our draft in our midfield and wings for several years now as I could see how the game was changing, so how the hell our football department could not is just confusing.
Last year the whole club overvalued the list, otherwise they would've added more senior talent to address the above areas.
Cazzz put up a good review on chaos vs control, if you haven't watched it then you should.
We don't have the players to play a chaos brand for a full game, linking handballs moving forwards at all cost.
We are therefore left playing this in bursts and the rest of the time trying to play the brand that has been winning the most games this year, controlled football.
The issue we then have is the players we have are also seemingly unable to do this with their apparent lack of skills.
We have a talent and depth issue at the club, we don't have a next man inline.
Our wings are a perfect example of this.
You also need to take into account that the game was a lot slower in 2023, there were probably only a couple of teams who could play that chaos (surge) football and when they did we could shut them down. Some of those clubs (not us) drafted to this change at the end of 2023.
In 2024, more clubs worked this out during the season that the game was heading that way and too adapted, luckily for them they had the talent, depth et.
Yet we still did not, instead we traded out more senior talent, added more kids and no depth and here we are.
You can't think a Lamborghini tractor will perform like a Lamborghini Revuelto just because it's a Lamborghini, even if Lewis Hamilton is at the wheel.
If we want to get back to finals football next year then we need to add more senior players to the list 3-4.
If not then we need to keep adding kids and accept we will be out of finals next year but hopefully back up there in 2027
So to say this is mindlessly supporting the coach is just nonsense.
And even if we did change the coach, the players are still going to be slow, lack foot skills and IQ.
Crazy talk is to think changing the coach will put us in premiership contention in 2027.
I'm not saying he is the one, but the bigger problem is the players and if they are turning against each other or the coach then that is Lord of the Flies stuff and a culture that needs to be eradicated now. Changing coaches is just adding more band-aids to an issue we have had to endure for 20+ years.
