hmmm. regardless of norf and where they're at. this is a game we should win, and win well, if we want to entertain any possibility of being a finals team.

What are the odds some cauliflower leaves the sprinklers on & turns the game into a fumble fest…

We don't need the sprinklers for that

I think you may have watched a different team to me last week.
I'll be happy with a win, even another ugly one.

However, this game is still a worry, they're chomping at the bit and our players may be drunk on a win against a team with zero defence.
We really need to bring our A game in the last quarter to have a chance.
It will also help if we are leading at half time as they have only won 2% of the time when in this position.
Mind you we are not much better at 9%, but I'll take it.

Finals would be nice, but I'm just hoping we don't hit bottom 4 first and foremost.

Sprinklers would cause an improvement.

The thought of gifting games sickens me.

Throwing Moir in last week when he had no form in the praccy games nor the VFL was stupid.
Yeah, it pleased some of the supporters who thought by throwing in a quality undeveloped kid would help us win, but it didnt. Far from it. 1k, 1HB, 80% GT.
Then those same supporters wonder why they are only given one game. Well, the answer is simple, we are playing to win games in the AFL, not carry passengers.

How many times have we seen posts demanding Voss play Wilson? Lemmey? even 18yo O'Farrell for Young, Gov or Haynes? Plenty.

Carroll and White are kids. They are kids who showed good form in praccy games and VFL. They warranted selection.

Prior to those 2 kids Lord and Lucas Camporeale got a call up because they showed they belonged and coped well playing against senior bodies. ie a bit further developed than other kids.

Kids like Lemmey, Moir, O'Keefe, Charleson, Wilson haven't shown anything convincing to be gifted a game imo.
Kids need to be knocking on the door before they are picked to play AFL.

I'll be surprised if Wilson and Lemmey are on our list in 2026 TBH. We have more kids queuing to come to Carlton in 2026: Gresham, Ison, Dean, Allan, Clark. Not all of them will get to us if we dont discard some kids and NGA's. That's our reality.

Our list problem is we have too many kids and not enough depth players to cover for injury. Doesn't give us any reason why we should be playing kids when we haven't got our game right to win games consistently, and protect the kids in a system they can fit into. We are still tweaking our system. Now is not the time for players to be gifted games who are not playing consistently well in the VFL.

As does the thought of senior players being gifted games because the ressies are poor

I'd rather give Lemmey (as just an example) one game at AFL level than accept countless games of mediocrity and condituional efforts by player X Y Z in the seniors

As much as we like these scoops, tell whoever's leaking the teams early (or tell your source to tell their source if there's separation) to stop undermining the club and being a selfish POS!

Personally, I appreciate the heads up. Thanks for the info SackedByMack.
The Young selection makes a bit of sense. He have a good contest the first couple of games forward, was rarely outworked and played a good defensive forward role.

Why are team lineups being leaked like this?

Put aside our own self interest and ask, is this the hallmark of a good football organisation??

With you on this - rather be a tight ship than learn who is playing 6hours early

I'm not putting aside my self interest!
The teams are announced tonight. We already know Elijah is playing and Harry/Kemp are not. The embargo only exists to give the host broadcaster a commercial advantage. It's not like North are going to come up with new strategies to counter us based on the teams being released 7 hours early.

Assuming the ‘leak’ is accurate, selections make sense.
A bit surprised that Docherty has been dropped. Not that he shouldn’t be, just that Voss has done it.
He has had a lot of the ball in the past couple of weeks. Butchered it a bit and definitely took a few short steps.
In short, his output has been higher than quite a few others who remain in the team so I would have understood Voss keeping him in the team.
But it is also important to maintain team standards so I think it serves a longer term purpose.
Acres may be less effective with the ball. But his attack on ball is uncompromising.
And if Pittonet isn’t match fit - I can’t see how he could be - he would be a liability.

   ...... time for this was 4 weeks ago, in particular with one player. If he does it with Doc this week, then he has lost it completely.
