Wonder what GW is doing today. I'm thinking he would be observing what moves are being made. And assessing the people making those moves.

Not the right thread but Footy Classified is about to go with a story of another off field scandal.

Sparklers make a bigger bang than that "scandal".

I'm not sure I'd care about this even if it involved Collingwood

Same.

The others on the panel gave "is that all" vibes to the story. Some in the media just want to kick us while we are done.

Meanwhile Channel 7 gives an on camera role to a convicted stalker.

I don’t think it was aimed at ‘getting Carlton’.
I think it was just Sam McLure trying to make a ho-hum story into a ‘sensational exclusive’ to whip up relevance in a way overcrowded TV market.

I used to read every story about Carlton and watch every show even when the stories were exactly the same.
Now there’s just too many to keep up with and the shows are more or less the same anyway.

On the Couch first became boring when they brought in David King to make his obvious observations as predictive revelations which never materialised. And lost me completely when they moved from some interesting conversations about interesting footy issues to a model which basically divides the show into 3mins of not very much on every club every week.

Is anyone else worried that the board and egos and politics will stop him from doing what he needs to be done?

Will be interesting to see how he interacts with the List Manager. As a former list manager himself he won't be bluffed. Clubs like to "empower" their list managers. Austin needs supervision.

The problem the club has is it’s about individual
Its not about the club
Individuals hide behind the logo
We are a powerful club therefore we are a good club
We are not
We had a sugar hit in 2023 with a game style that’s already outdated
Remember that the coaching position came down to two names
Voss and Kingsley
We went with the name not the best coach
Voss it seems incapable of changing the club’s game style and personal
It’s now 2 wins from the last 12 matches
That’s becoming a large sample size
The effort has been there the last 2 weeks but not the execution
Our recruitment team
Past and present haven’t been good enough
The club has this perception that because we have 5 or so gun players we are in the premiership window

Figure it out
We lose 7 of our last 9 games in 2024 have a coach that produces the worst coaching display I can remember ( Cincotta for Docherty that putting individuals before the club) then over the off season provide no new tactical support give away our first and second round picks off load good servants in Kennedy and Owies for Jaga Smith
Even if hadn’t done his knee he would not make much difference
Against individual over the club
We recruit AFL hacks in Haynes and Francis- Evans
In round one it was Blight
Round 2 it was Newcombe
In round 3 it was Davidson
All VFL and WAFL players pick in their early 20 s
Our recruiting is so @#$%&! narrow minded
Clearly what happened over summer shows where the club thought where we were at
In the premiership window .
This shows once again how the club places individuals over the club
We have the champs we will be alright
Injuries [REDACTED] us
Well that’s an excuse
GWS had just as many last yearn
It’s so @#$%&! dumb
And it hasn’t changed in 25 years
Our reserves our shit
Clearly not enough emphasis is placed on developing kids
In my time I have only seen one flag won by an individual
Martin in 2020
Every other year it’s won by the team with the best bottom 6 players
We focus too much on our better players and pay too much either money picks or both on players from other AFL clubs who we overrate time and time again

Honestly I can’t see us winning more than 11 games given the competition

I hope it all falls apart and the club finally takes action by saying we have a cultural problem
I would be happy for DeKoning to go
1.2 million would give us a pick 3
McKay I would trade
Besides easing salary cap pressure we would get a first rounder
Walsh for a first rounder
This needs to happen before Tassie come in
Get a coach who is good
Not a name
The alternative is to be at best mediocre
I love what Mitchell has done
We need to do something similar

I would like to think Wright might just get it and do something about it it

I think Wright’s middle name will be “Wheelbarrow” he’s going to have the job in front of him.

I dont think H would get us a first rounder. Bris would be the likely team. Maybe Wilmot and a 3rd.

Disagree - 200 cm key forwards who've won a Coleman don't grow on trees.

Just need to be hard negotiators and convince another club, especially a QLD/NSW club, that the change of scenery can help him overcome his soft side (it won't, but we need to sell that).

We should be aiming for a 1st rounder and a ready made player as a minimum.

Imagine! The only possible silver lining to this turd of a season.

Reuniting Ben and Harry for a draft pick and one of their young wings. 100% I’m in
