Yeah it was pretty funny that the only prodigal son who looked up for it was the guy who started as sub because he couldn't be trusted to play 4Q but came on mid 2Q anyway...

After the Cats game I dared to dream. Then Voss started to flirt with our form with smart arse selections. Top that off with injuries, playing half fit players until they broke down, while kids with potential couldn't get a run.

When TDK came on we saw how important he is to us. Pitto is little more than an honest toiler who doesn't give us much around the ground, he got flogged by Oscar in the ruck. I felt Williams or Motlop should have been subbed out before Kennedy, not that Kennedy was giving us much, and jeeze he's slow. We seem to have so many mid size players who lack leg speed, the comparison with Hawthorn is embarrassing.

A rubbish performance tonight when it mattered. Only beat Norf and West Coast in our last 9 rounds so what do we expect. Team selection was a complete and utter farce. Lot of soul searching required over pre season as we’ve just pissed away a season in our supposed window.

Also worth mentioning that today we played an almost full game with one Man Down!

What on Earth was the point of Playing Matt. Kennedy today? It was so embarrassing seeing him playing as a Ruck. Another Brain Fade by Vossy & Co. How Awesome would it have been to see Moir or Carol or Binns who would have given us the extra run?

TDK as sub was an atrocious idea. Some of the selections were baffling but that doesn't excuse 0-60. Our players were putrid when the heat was applied. Fumbly, second guessing, avoiding the collisions. We needed to be the team that bought the pressure tonight and we succumbed badly when the Lions were tougher and stronger.
That should sit in the players guts. It doesn't matter who is out on the field, there's no excuse for insipid effort.

Problem is BV I’m not sure our players really care. Or maybe they’re just confused in the way that we are?

There’s something weird going on there around accountability.

I don’t have any sense our players are currently on the same page as our coaching staff.

Apart from TDK, the other underdone selections all had stinkers... partly explains the 0-60 start

To Voss, MC , SC, etc etc
Forget the final margin tonight. Concentrate on that 0 - 60 farce in an Elimination Final. Had they kicked straight it would have been worse.
Not only an embarrassment for the players and coaches but also for us supporters (106,000 +) who pay big $$$ in membership.
Think hard guys, very hard ..... we're on par with the bottom 6 sides. Port Power have a lot to answer to for making us play finals. Pies or Freo would not have embarrassed themselves like that.
The team selection tonight had amateur hour written all over it.
One draft this year won't fix up all our problems but we better make correct decisions in who stays and who goes.
Yep .... tonight I'm p##sed off

A few observations.

Never really disliked Cam Rayner but he was an absolute flower tonight.

Hewett's a really solid citizen & he's had a good consistent season, probably our best tonight. The trouble is we are more reliant on him than we should be. We should have dynamic quick mids getting it more than he does, no disrespect to Hewett.

All the returning players were pretty terrible bar TDK. Love doc but he started with a fumble & didn't get much better. Cerra, hardly saw him.

The way the injury list's been, not just this year but seriously for years on end, it's like we as a club have been chasing this mythical perfect on paper squad, & tonight thought we could overlook match fitness & just go for it. Massive risk but then playing young guys is also a risk but we erred on the side of the bigger name players who lacked touch & condition.

So glad to see the back end of Russell. Heard some glowing testimonials but see ya later. I can't help thinking about an incident when he'd been at the club not long, & he spoke publically about advice he'd give to Buddy, & it just seemed so unprofessional & arrogant a thing to do. Maybe he's just that.

Over a decade ago Voss sold the farm for Fev & got 2 seasons out of him or whatever it was. At the time on this forum it got him the nickname Crazy Vossy. Maybe we were right. I love him & want him to succeed but if you're the senior coach & you need a more senior steadying hand to stop you from dropping cinc or making a ruckman the sub then things aren't quite right.

Thanks to Braithy for giving me my one smile for the night with the 50-50 game call, gold.

Commiserations to the supporters who went up. You didn't deserve that. Said to my kid in the first half we were making Port look good. I was seriously having Arceri game flashbacks. Absolutely pathetic way to end the season.

Just going to barrack against the Hawks now.

Like the rest of you I was totally embarrassed by tonight's performance. We were never a chance to win after our selections this week. Too tall, too slow and too many underdone players in the team.
I felt sorry for Kennedy, he must have been livid. TDK as the sub. Seriously?
I went to Ikon Park to watch it. It was in a room upstairs and was a good set up with 3 big screens to watch it on. It was pretty quiet in the first half . Anyway, that was another wasted season. I hope GWS smash the Lions next week, too many smart arses for my liking.

Good post CK. About suns it up for me really. Tonight was the exclamation mark on an awful last 8 weeks of footy.

A lot to work through over pre season but I’m at least buoyed that we’ve made a start by replacing Russell and the delisting of some injury prone types over the coming weeks will be a step forward. A bit of soul searching required over the off season from players to coaches and everyone in between.

I’m sad now….

what an embarrassing end to the season…!

I thought we hit them hard till their second goal…
but then something weird happened…!

Yup selection table mess hey…!

But then Kennedy off instead of Pitto…or Durdin even…
but not Kennedy…!

I was going to go on a rant…but I’m tired…sad…angry…
deflated…and Cee Kay said it all pretty well…!

kindest regards tommi

What a horrible 10 weeks of football…!

That's almost 30% of our goal kicking power out. Significant in a finals game.
