A few observations.
Never really disliked Cam Rayner but he was an absolute flower tonight.
Hewett's a really solid citizen & he's had a good consistent season, probably our best tonight. The trouble is we are more reliant on him than we should be. We should have dynamic quick mids getting it more than he does, no disrespect to Hewett.
All the returning players were pretty terrible bar TDK. Love doc but he started with a fumble & didn't get much better. Cerra, hardly saw him.
The way the injury list's been, not just this year but seriously for years on end, it's like we as a club have been chasing this mythical perfect on paper squad, & tonight thought we could overlook match fitness & just go for it. Massive risk but then playing young guys is also a risk but we erred on the side of the bigger name players who lacked touch & condition.
So glad to see the back end of Russell. Heard some glowing testimonials but see ya later. I can't help thinking about an incident when he'd been at the club not long, & he spoke publically about advice he'd give to Buddy, & it just seemed so unprofessional & arrogant a thing to do. Maybe he's just that.
Over a decade ago Voss sold the farm for Fev & got 2 seasons out of him or whatever it was. At the time on this forum it got him the nickname Crazy Vossy. Maybe we were right. I love him & want him to succeed but if you're the senior coach & you need a more senior steadying hand to stop you from dropping cinc or making a ruckman the sub then things aren't quite right.
Thanks to Braithy for giving me my one smile for the night with the 50-50 game call, gold.
Commiserations to the supporters who went up. You didn't deserve that. Said to my kid in the first half we were making Port look good. I was seriously having Arceri game flashbacks. Absolutely pathetic way to end the season.
Just going to barrack against the Hawks now.

Good post CK. About suns it up for me really. Tonight was the exclamation mark on an awful last 8 weeks of footy.
A lot to work through over pre season but I’m at least buoyed that we’ve made a start by replacing Russell and the delisting of some injury prone types over the coming weeks will be a step forward. A bit of soul searching required over the off season from players to coaches and everyone in between.
